"For a reason?" Demyx echoed the most obvious question to him. "I don't know what reason I'd be here, except for work...which judging on this place, I'd guess I got lost or something."
*here. Wow, me.
no subject
That was hero stuff. He was no hero.
"I don't think that's why I'm here. I'm most likely just lost."
no subject
He offered a hint of a smile.
"There are people here who can help."
no subject
"I'm not a hero. I don't save anything."
no subject
no subject
"I don't know why he'd think that."

"Why are you doing magic by the lake?"
no subject
Though he missed summoning and taming, after what happened with Nash he was... hesitant.

A small fond smile.
"Besides, one of the members of my family here, Link, has a penchant for getting in trouble. I want him to always feel that I will have his back, should we wind up in a combat situation, rather than being a liability."
no subject
He tilted his head. "Your family?"
Demyx hadn't really thought about 'family' in a very long time, unless one counted the Organization as family, which he supposed he was stuck with doing so.
"I guess that sounds nice."
no subject
"We found each other here, and he reminds me of someone from home who was as close to a son as I have ever had. It is frustrating, but also wonderful, watching him grow and learn. Others from his world, his family, have arrived, and we are making a home for ourselves here."
no subject
"Like starting over?" He hummed lightly. "Huh."
no subject
"You can learn what is right, over time, and you can ask someone you trust. You can see what others do and the affects it has, and what affects your own actions have. We are always learning what is right and wrong, and it changes with context. As do we. It is always an effort, but always worth that effort, in the end."
He nodded. "Like starting over. Or, rather, like starting fresh."
no subject
"If you say so, since you're the hero expert. I'm just a musician after all."
He exhaled slowly. "Starting over...I don't know if I can have that, but it would be nice someday."
no subject
He smiled at him. "And whoever said music is not heroic? Music lifts the spirit and eases the heart. It can gentle and sooth, or it can call to arms. Music is one of the most powerful forces in existence, when wielded properly. It is a skill I have never learned, personally, but one worth pursuing."
"You are here now, you can have exactly that, if you wish it."
no subject
"I like music, as much as I like anything, and it's part of who I was...am...whatever. I haven't met anyone else who really cares for it." He knew the many rebukes of making too much of a racket that he was used to.
"Time is limited, it always is. Even if I can't leave today or tomorrow, I'll be found. He'll find me." His fate was sealed the moment he became a Nobody and was found by his superiors.
no subject
"There are people here who care for music. Link plays an ocarina, I know. I would much prefer he practice music with you than play with bombs."
"Who? Who is he?"
no subject
"An ocarina huh? Nice instrument. Not my style though, I'm more of a string instrument kind of guy. I play a sitar." Demyx didn't comment on the explosives, it wasn't his forte.
"The Superior of course. Your boss wouldn't let you run around for work unsupervised, would he?"
no subject
A small hint of a smile. "Actually, she trusted me to do exactly that. I know my duties to her, and she trusts that I will fulfil them. She has never questioned my loyalty." Though he has questioned his own, since arriving.

"Different here? I'm not so sure about that." He doubted he belonged there anymore than anywhere else.
