[Missy considered her offer, and she did in fact look around, her fingers twitching on the handle of the umbrella. She was tempted to try the girl's theory about killing her over and over. After all, she'd never really grown bored of it when it had come to Jack and Missy expected that she probably wouldn't grow bored with anyone who happened to annoy her.

Like this girl was annoying her.

But Missy took a step towards the woman, her body coiled tightly like a predator about to pounce, and there was impatience in each line of her body.]

You say you know me, but then you know that at this moment I am attempting to be good. I'd hate to be tempted to do something that would make the Doctor put out.

[Because even if she couldn't kill his toys, the Doctor tended to frown if you broke them in another way like killing their fathers or destroying their planets or conquering them and turning them into cats and all of the things that she'd done over the years.]

A nexus.

[Missy said the words in a flat tone of voice and she just sighed in a rather dramatic fashion, resisting the urge to both roll her eyes and to go over to the Doctor and give him a good shake. Of course he probably wasn't as inclined towards forgiveness when it came to her as some of the others, but she couldn't believe that he was being so thick as to not get it.]

A casual nexus, yes?

[That might have worked better if Lady Me hadn't been spending the better part of 7 months barbing her exactly like that word for word.]

Yeah.

[She's a little curious though. She thought purposely making him mad was the point.]

[Jack breathes out and relaxes a bit realizing that Rose knows at least this much. It will make the rest of this conversation easier to have. He tilts her head so that they are looking at each other and presses a gentle kiss to her mouth.]

Don't you dare Rose Tyler....you did what you promised and gave me life. I'm not angry at you and I never was. You saved me you and the Doctor.

[He smiles again showing her the sadness very few people got to see or even understand when they did see it.]

A rescue team came up to see what had happened and found me. I went back to Earth with them for a bit then I decided it was time to find you and the Doctor and tried to jump back in time using my vortex manipulator. It burnt out and I got stuck in 1892, so I lived life the slow way.

[He barks out a harsh laugh and shakes his head. It was actually fitting much like his fighting his own regeneration tooth and nail, much more than his tenth self ever did. It was still there waiting for him, but if leaving here meant facing it he was never going to leave....ever no matter what former companions or wrongs he had to face to stay.]

I suppose so...both of us passing on at the same time. Though I have no idea who I'm going to become when I go back...if I go back.

[If that didn't work than Missy was going to need to work harder on something that does. She's most certainly not going to allow a beloved and not shared pet to go on thinking she's the most important thing in the Doctor's universe.

Missy had killed people for less.

But for now, she was attempting to change, though the fact that the latest incarnation of the Doctor wasn't here was both a plus and a minus. One: it meant that there was no one here who knew of Missy's promise and plea to him, which was a plus. Two: it meant that Missy might be able to act however the hell she wanted which was certainly a minus for Rose.

Considerations, considerations.

In the end, she just smiled like a snake and calmly said:]

I suppose you could tell them that the bitch is back.

[Out of all the options Jack chooses he knows it shouldn't been this one. He doesn't know what point in the timeline Nine is from or even if he's met Jack's younger self yet, but it's been an emotional day and he just decides dammit all. He leans in and grips the Doctor's face in his hands and kisses him passionately and quickly before pulling back and readying himself for anything.]

I was wrong Doctor...I wasn't better off a coward...I was better off with you.

Well to put it mildly.

[Another shrug.]

As far as sentient nexus go. I don't think I've really encountered one of those before.

[And he hadn't exactly asked if he ever would. But that wasn't interesting, at least not at the moment. He rubbed his chin and tilted his head.]

Why casual?

[For the first time, Missy considered something other than getting back to the Doctor's side, and she stared at him. He'd said he was dying, but the Doctor didn't die, just like he didn't lose because he was the Doctor. That was what she'd told Clara in what was an actual moment of truth, because she had liked the impossible girl, even if she had thrown her into a hole and tried to make the Doctor kill her.

She just didn't like it when pets she put together came between their relationship.

Staring at him, she realized that the Doctor, this Doctor would probably never see this her and would never know what she had done if they went back. He'd regenerate, and eventually she would to, because Missy wasn't a moron even though her former self thought her to be one.

What if we didn't go home and regenerate? What if we just stayed here like this? Not much different from Earth, really, is it?

[She ends up laughing and crying at the same time, but they're happy tears at least, and she squishes him hard.]

Mmn! Bad Wolf told me you looked after me when I was kid. Took care of that bully that Micks and I couldn't deal with down the hall... Thank you Jack.

[Laughs and wipes her eyes gently with a single finger each to avoid smudging makeup, and laughs some more.] You have no idea how much I missed you.

There's this woman called Lady Me, right? The Twelfth Doctor made her immortal, and I told her what happened with you, so she... definitely hates me. Not a big fan of you either. Because she's just so... [Stomps a foot and groans.] Small and petty and doesn't even try. I hate it. Not her. Just.... that I cursed ya and you sacrifice yourself all the time, and she's too cowardly to die even once. That's not... [Finger air quotes.] Immortality, that's just livin' really long. I'm more immortal than that.

Ugh!

[HUGS AND CLINGS BUT NUZZLES SLIGHTLY AND BREATHES HIM IN AND HE'S THERE AND SHE IS SO HAPPY.]

Oh gosh! You have to see it though! So there's Scarfy, Fluffy -- he came after Leather Jacket and Ears, and Eight. You'll love 8. You can probably have contests to see who everyone in Nautilus falls for first. [Giggles.]

Mmn, but Scarfy's mine. And Eight's. But go easy on him. He's the baby Doctor here. [Holds her fingers up slightly and giggles again.] Might be my favorite. He even edged you out as my best friend, but he's heard so many stories about you. He says he has to keep us separate. [Giggles more.] Which I think just means he wants to be tied up with his own scarf and tickled. [Serious nod, but she loses it to an evil smirk.] He's very ticklish.

Ah! And!! Check this out! [Digs into her shirt and pulls out the key on a chain which is TARDIS key, of course, but with it, her blue diamond engagement ring, shaped of course: like a TARDIS.] Christmas present from Fluffy. [Sucks in both lips, waiting for Jack's approval!] When I first got here it was just the two of us, and he was just a nomad. But he got the box made, even though it doesn't have the TARDIS' soul, so that he can keep me safe. 9 came in December and that was... a real wild ride. So I couldn't say yes because I didn't want to pressure his past. Although I totally buggered that up with 8. I thought 8 was like... [Sighs.] Someone like River Song or his future wife. But Fluffy says, he's been treatin' me like we're already married even before I showed up, yeah?

[Tucks it back away and molests Jack's cheeks, beaming.] He'll be glad you're here. [ROSE ASSUMES. BECAUSE SHE IS SO HAPPY. ERGO OF COURSE EVERYONE ELSE WILL BE. AS THEY SHOULD BE.]

[....that was a surprise. It was usually him who did the surprise kissing. At first he thought it was some sort of storm, but then apparently this man knew exactly who he was. Apparently he meant something to him. Deeply. It was frustrating not to know. Even more so because that kiss hadn't felt like just friends and he really didn't need anything more complicated in his love life just now.

But he couldn't just dismiss the man either. Not after something so...impassioned. He puts an arm around the man's shoulders]

I'm sure you managed well enough. [he hopes.

And then a thought occurs to him and he hopes he's right]

[Rose had mentioned him often enough in a way that said he should remember him or will eventually in this face so unless it was someone different then he was pretty sure he was right]

[No one can ever convince Rose that. She's his ~soulmate~ and even fucked up with 8 telling him so before she knew he was the Doctor. Thus the caution now at least.]

[Rose just grins and giggles at that. SEE? She knew the Master would be funny.] Want me to use those words?

[Jack allows the touching because it's Rose and he will always give her things he wouldn't or couldn't give to anyone else. He smiles at her stories and shakes his head clucking.]

Having fun without me Rose Tyler is completely unfair. And getting to meet other Doctor's when I had to only hear stories. And believe me I heard stories. I met other companions like this dish of a sailor named Steven...you would have loved him. Oh and the Brig...a friend of Sarah Jane's he and I actually had a bet going that I couldn't flirt with all the Doctors without breaking my timeline.

[The news about Lady Me makes Jack stop for a second and look furious.]

He made another immortal.....and here I was worried what he might say about Rex and that was an accident and he made another immortal....and just what assumed they would be okay.....god I could punch him. I may if I see him again depending on if it's the right one. Not everyone can handle a life like that. And for the record we've met and I'm not a fan of hers either. Very rigid and angry and apparently only sees me as the flirt I am.

[Jack huffed and for a moment the hand his vortex manipulator is on clenches]

Sometimes I wonder if Gwen was right...if sometimes the Doctor looks down on us and refuses to help because he doesn't like what he sees. It would explain why you and I have had to deal with more than anyone should have.

[Jack isn't stupid and he's broken hearted that they don't match up. But he's good at playing the game and he steps back the charming mask is in place with a cheeky wink and a grin.]

I knew I'd find out what that hard work entailed Doc...I'd love a drink.

[Twelve considers the question with the weight that it's due. Not going home, not facing becoming yet another person and losing himself, no more companions who leave him and die. Yes he has to face Me and possibly his other wrongs but Missy would be here and Rose too so it couldn't all bad...could it?]

That wouldn't be terrible...you and me...starting over.

Of course they did. [he runs a hand over his head, anger swelling in him. Of course they did. Bad enough they tried to use him all the time, to use the Master against him or others because 'perfect little soldier'. He'd never thought he'd come to hate Rassilon quite so much but every new piece of information makes it exceedingly difficult to do otherwise.

The last bit, well the Master is clever enough. It doesn't surprise him. What does is that she came out of hiding. But of course she did once everything was over. She always did have the best sense of timing or the worst.

But there politics don't matter so much right now as here politics and looking at it all -- even if death isn't as big of a problem as it was otherwise, there was still going to be a Problem. Just the Master was like stepping on a minefield, but a bored Master...

This was going to be a disaster. He gives her a look]

This is your one and only warning to behave. I'm not going to tolerate anything else and I don't which of me you met, but this me is not going to stand idly by and let you do what you want. Understand?

Doctor. Please. Not Doc. Why Doc anyway? Who goes by Doc and likes it? [not him that was for sure. He's also not sure what Jack is talking about. Hard work? What hard work? He can't keep up the ruse and he knows it and he wonders if Jack knows it too. But keeping up the ruse of keeping up the ruse is something they both seem to be good at]

What's been happening? [this he really does want to know. There are things that Fluffy won't tell him. Granted he doesn't much know where this Jack is from but if nothing else he'll get something filled in]

[Jack is good at this game, he's had to be for centuries playing the "I don't know your future" role when he actually did. He's good at hiding his pain when it was killing him inside.]

Oh you know Doctor saving the world...doing what you taught me...trying to dance with anything that will have me.

I know! [Laughs!] But I saved you all the best juicy parts! And the time Nautilus showed off 8 flashing the whole comm bein' naked. And 9 working shirtless on a boat. [THAT IS HOW MUCH SHE LOVES YOU JACK. SHE WOULD DO THIS FOR NO ONE ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE. INCLUDING THE DOCTOR HIMSELF.]

Yeah? [Waggles eyebrows and tongue lolls about Steven, but she perks up then.] Oh! Four mentioned him! You should tell him about the bet. [Giggles.] He'd help you win.

[She pauses and eyes widen in shock at Jack's reaction. She'd never seen Jack that angry before. She didn't blame him in the least! But she was still surprised!]

Rex? [Quiet voice, and Rose gently took Jack's hand, locked her fingers through his.] Grumpy, old, thick eyebrows, Scottish. There'll be a line to punch him with 9 in first. I'll be the only one who wants to hear his side I think. She was a child here, there's these things called chaos storms, happen 'bout a month or so when things get too crazy, buildup of excess chaos, oh wait, reality storm? Well... This whole big alternate universe where we were all teachers, but she was a student. Apparently she was like that when the Doctor first met her. Still can't say what he was thinking, she thought she caused deaths of people around her just by thinking it. Not someone I'd think could handle it.

[Rose shook her head though and took his other hand and squeezed that too.] That's not it. I've had less troubles because of him! Not more. And-- [Bites her bottom lip.] He loves humans. [Quiet.] It's against the TimeLord laws. Did you know?

[Quiet frustrated growl and moves her fingers up to his eyes to look into them with her own.] Listen, never tell anyone not even the Doctor that I told you this, yeah? He doesn't even know I know. Well, Four does. Four I'd trust with everything. Even you.

He broke the TimeLord laws against non-interference. They forced him to regenerate, exiled him to Earth and that's how he met the Brigadier and Jo and Sarah Jane. That was his third incarnation. That's why, they're all protective of Scarfy, because he was the first one who got to be free again after that.

He's not supposed to save the planet as much as he does. He just hates certain things as much as I do, yeah? Tyranny, slavery, injustice, the weak being abused just for money and power or greed. The TimeLords could do more but they don't.

[Sucks in a deep breath and squeezes his hands tightly, letting the breath go.]

At the end of the Time war versus the daleks, the TimeLord leader, Rassilon, wanted to destroy all of existence, and just ascend the TimeLords into not even having a physical form, just consciousness. That was why the Doctor stopped them. And he lost all his peopel for it. I've been with him when he couldn't sleep and all the nightmares he's had. Nights cryin' about the kids destroyed in the war.

The Krillitanes tried to lure him into helping them with power, yeah? No more humans would have to suffer or die. But Sarah Jane stopped him. Said everything has its time, everything has to end.

I don't get it. I hate ends, I always will. Four's like that too, he and I, neither of us can grow up about it it seems. But the Doctor doesn't look down on anyone. He tore himself apart trying to help Ashildr here. The worst fight he -- Ten and I got into, I don't think Four's even forgiven him for yet. And it was because he felt so stupid and guilty over Ashildr, and she made a deal with him that if he took her traveling with him, without me mindya, she would try to stop being a backwards obnoxious recluse here.

Thing is... I don't know what 12 was thinking, but I do know he was right not to bring Ashildr with him. Ten started having a total mental breakdown in just a few months since she was here!

[Pushes her hair back with a hand.] Thing is, I told her, we don't just go along to get away from people. We go along to bring him back to people.

He's not lookin' down on us, Jack. He just gets scared. It wasn't just the TimeLords that tortured him, humans and others have too. 8? Acts like it's just another Tuesday for him! It breaks my heart.

[Deep breath and drops his hands to shield her eyes.]

There's more. I wouldn't do this but I have to.

The TimeLords used Lady Me as a trap, killed Clara, and Rassilon tortured the Doctor using what's known as a confession dial. 'm only tellin' ya because... That's why Lady Me is such an extra mess. Not just the immortality thing.

Don't get me wrong. I can't defend her. I try to protect her from the Doctor, not for her, not even for him, just because that's who I want to be as a person. But I told Four. If you went around collecting everyone I left in my past to try to I dunno... help them even? I'd be so offended I'd punch you, and I love you.

[Deep breath.] Thing is, 9 and 10 don't really get it. They still think that she's just from a different universe, because they have to think that. If they find out that the TimeLords can come back... there's nothing they wouldn't do for that. Except...

That's how much they care about humans, Jack. One human life they don't even like very much, versus the whole of Gallifrey.

I think... I've got as much blame with Ashildr as everyone else. Because maybe if I hadn't messed up, he wouldn't be so lonely and scared and I met another woman and she told me he was just so tired of losing people and not getting them back. And that's on me. I'm the one who can't let go, who can't stand endings, who couldn't stand to let you die, who keeps trying to tell him to keep fighting, never give up. That's... That's what I did Jack. With Bad Wolf, when I came back. I told him he wasn't allowed to quit. To try anything, do anythin', no matter how crazy. I'm the one who keeps tellin' him it's all right to be more human. And that that means taking chances instead of just standing by and letting things happen. That's the TimeLord way. Don't get involved. Don't experience things like love or pain or any of it. Just use people as weapons.

I taught him to do different. I insisted on it. Always will too.

So if you wanna get mad at him, you gotta get mad at me too, yeah?

[Jack was torn but he quietly listens to Rose with the weight her words deserve and he makes a choice to lay it all on the table and hope she understands that he understands Lady Me's anger. He's sure they've met outside this place and there may be other reasons she hates him. He looked at her and saw what he could have been become if he hadn't forced himself to keep up the facade of charm, if he hadn't had Gwen to focus on and Ianto to love. Now he'd lost them and Rex was alone back home with no idea what Jack had done. Hell Jack didn't know what he'd done, but he was no better than the Doctor right now.]

I could never be mad at you Rose....getting mad at you would mean getting mad at myself. I'm no better then the Doctor.

[He takes a deep, deep breath in and fights the urge to change the subject but he knows he can't.]

I've lost everything back home Rose. Torchwood is gone...destroyed the government blew up the Hub after Davros to cover up something I helped them do in 1965. They put a bomb in my stomach and blew me up from inside of the Hub....I learned I could regrow from nothing more than two limbs. They then tried to bury me alive but I'd been through that before so it wasn't a bad thing.

But then they forced me to choose between my family and saving the world. They were going to sell ten percent of the children of the world to alien drug users.....they killed my lover and I......killed my own grandson to stop them.

[He chokes back his emotions as he hears his daughters screams in his head and Ianto dying in his arms as Jack himself choked to death on poison gas.]

And I ran away...I didn't plan on ever coming back.....but another one of my stupid mistakes came back bite me and people stopped dying....they became me and I became mortal again.....the world turned dark and for a second...just a split second I thought I can die and someone else can fix this...I'm tried of saving the world.

Marinette slips herself down and off her Doctor's shoulders and holds his arm gently, giving a reassuring squeeze.

"UHm, if it makes any kind of difference - I kinda followed him." she nods at him with a shrug, "He is very sweet, and intelligent. Can't help but follow someone like that."

She nods at his question at looked back at the woman. She had a - certain air about her.

Ten, meanwhile, is building roof hopping, which here means creating pink bubbles in the air and bouncing off them as they pop behind him. For a moment pauses on a roof top and spots someone - lowers himself to a lower rooftop for a better look and inwardly face palms; not at Jack himself per say but more of the headache that is likey to follow with the beyond timey wimey.

Slowly, making his way all the way down on bouncing in the pink bubbles finally lands five feet in front of Jack,

"Hallo. Welcome to Nautilus."

Oh, that insult was mostly at Rose, only a little at him. She'd yet to meet any male from their universe that Rose wouldn't snog. And it disgusted her.

"Oh I assure you, Captain Jack Harkness, Torchwood, that I have had years upon years to build my impression of you," she said as she turned to face him, arms crossed. "And even more years of constant frustration from both Torchwood and Unit. I've frankly no interest in talking to anyone from either if it does not help me with my mission. As we are here, I no longer have that mission, and thus no reason at all to waste my time with a flirt who clearly cannot accept it when someone clearly does not wish his company."

Jack smiles carefully at this version of the Doctor. He's met Rose and Lady Me and kissed Nine by this point and he's an emotional wreck at this point, but he hides it behind a charming smile and a wink. "Doctor thank you for the welcome. Good to see you again hope I'm not the one giving you the headache."

His expression turns icy cold his eyes suddenly older than his face. "And your mission is what then.....being the immortal version of a downer drug," he asks, "you should know Torchwood is long gone for me and I have friends who work for UNIT. I trust them. They may have made some missteps but when the Doctor can't be there we step up."
