That's fine! Poor Ascot!
So before Ascot could notice him, He swung his staff and summoned Fluya. The flying fish was smaller than usual, the size of a large horse, but a familiar creature was a familiar creature. Clef sat on her back as she swam through the air to float in front of Ascot. Possibly the only time he could look down on anyone from home, physically. Especially since standing the two of them were about the same size.
"I suppose that you being here means that the Knights have one less challenge to face then." His face was hard set. "And you're not going to be able to summon your friends here, Ascot." And then the slightest softening. "They're fine, they're just not here."
His creatures are his life.. what's he gonna do now D:
Recoiling defensively as if he expected the master mage to launch some assault of his own, Ascot tried to maintain some illusion that he had any fight left in him.
"This is only a temporary setback! The Knights haven't seen the last of me," He boldly though shakily professed. How he wanted to argue with the next thing that Clef said. If Clef was able to summon a creature, why couldn't he? Knowing that his friends were fine would have been a comfort to him but he was unsure whether to believe one of his enemies or not.
Also..... wait a minute here," Shouldn't you be stone right now?"
Suffer. Like the rest of them.
As if to demonstrate this, he sent Fluya back into his staff and created a shimmering sheild around him, so he could float in the sphere at the same height, completely safe. Jane had taught him spherical shielding. He... He missed her. And Nash. Whatever he had to do, Ascot could not be allowed to go back to sleep as they had. He needed to be kept here.
He rested against his staff, as if there were level ground in his shield.
"the Knights will save the Pilliar from Zagato. But you? Ascot, you are going to tell me what in the world possessed you to betray the princess. Betray our whole world."
How was he going to keep Ascot away from Link?
Shadow. He'd get Shadow to help, Shadow would understand. So the harder part would be keeping Ascot away from Zelda...
No D:. He Refuses. /Like he has a choice
When Fluya was dismissed, Ascot took this as his cue to be more on guard. If he had the power to do so, then he would have retreated. His job was to take out the Magic Knights, not Guru Clef. He new better than to even attempt it. The knights were still in training and should be easier for the taking. They didn't have Clef's knowledge nor experience to fall back on.
"Am I supposed to be impressed by a glowing ball?" His words were in a contrast to his actually feelings on the matter. It was a unique and enviable skill to one who had no magic to fall back on. Still, it was not the offense Ascot had expected.
".... You're forgetting that I wasn't the only one working for Zagato." He nearly named Caldina by name but thought better of it, not sure how much the mage knew of his opposition and on the off chance that whatever Ascot told him could be used against her. The others he held in a lesser regard, but he refrained from speaking of them all the same. "What does any of that matter now, if we're trapped here?" He bit his lip as the very thought of the people of Cephiro came to mind. The ones who had seen his friends as monsters, who had threatened to hurt them and ostracized his connection to them. "There was no where for me on that world... not for me nor my friends. What was there for me to betray?"
For someone who was currently powerless, Ascot would have been amused by the fears running through Clef's mind.
No. Choice. At. All.
"It does not matter if you're impressed or not, Ascot. What matters is that you are here." He created another sphere shield, this one around Ascot and the ground he was standing on. He lifted his staff slightly and the other sphere lifted, carrying Ascot with him until they were on eye level with each other. "What matters is that until I get answers, you're not going anywhere."
"No, you weren't the only one to betray Emuraude. Trust that I have never forgotten that, Ascot, nor will I. But you are the one here now. I will trust the others to my friends. Or did you forget that I'm not alone in defending her either?"
And then a cold smile, unlike anything anyone in Naut had seen from him since the alignment swap storm. And none of those who would know that smile were anywhere nearby. "You are trapped here. Ascot. I. Am. Not. This world granted me the power to Ascend. To visit other worlds, with all the powers this land has granted me intact. I am training another set of knights," that part wasn't the truth, but now that he said it... it was a good idea. He'd have to talk to Nita. "Zagato will answer for his crimes, as will all who followed him."
"What are you even talking about, Ascot? What friends? Anyone on that world you have betrayed. How long will any friends remain thus when you have risked their lives?"

“Hey! What’s the big idea?!” The small summoner protested when the bubble enveloped him this time. “This is a low blow!” At least when he targeted the Magic Knights they had some hope of repelling him and his monsters. He didn’t strike someone who was completely unarmed, just woefully inexperienced. There’s a difference in there somewhere. Somewhat pathetically, he flailed inside his bubble prison trying to find a way to pop it or break free. “That’s what you think. You can’t hold me in here forever”.
“Like it matters to me...” His role was suspended in that world, and with it his dreams of achieving his own desires. If someone else offed the knights he wouldn’t get the credit for it and Zagato would have no reason to honor their deal. So, while he might prefer that Caldina would prevail where he could not, the outcome didn’t really affect him, unless something happened to her.
The smile was enough to cause Ascot to recoil inside his prison. What sort of an expression was that? Then the chilling words that followed hardly sounded like something Clef would have said before. He was out for revenge? Also don’t think he missed the part about your being ascended and able to leave this place at will. That just wasn’t fair. “.. But the legend states that only the Magic Knights can answer the pillar’s call. How is training a new set of knights going to matter?”
What friends indeed. If he just had one of them at his beck and call he could get away from this loonier version of Guru Clef. “My friends would never leave me intentionally! We depend on each other..:” At least he hoped they hadn’t left intentionally. “Some would call my friends monsters... but they just don’t get it!”

"The big idea? A lesson. I am a teacher, after all...." this was too close to the alignment swap storm, Clef hated who he had been there. Hated to find himself acting that way now. But there was just so much anger in him. "I don't intend to hold you here forever, nor do I need to, Ascot."
"The legend states the magic knights are from another world that comes at the pillar's need. The people on the Knight's world have a phrase. They call it stacking the deck. There is nothing in the legend that say I can't make the Knights' job easier." And he still hated himself for having put this on them in the first place.
"There is only one monster here, Ascot." What chilled Clef was that he meant Ascot when he said it, but now was not so sure.
Something bubbled in him. The side of his temper he had been trying so hard to smother, since the talk with Shadow. Not this cold rage which was rare, but his impulsive every day anger that had always been part of him.
And face to face with someone from home... someone his size, someone who understood... the leash snapped.
"I never thought you were a moron before, so why are ya being one now?!" And there went the dialect and all the work he spent trying to come across as more polished. "WHAT DO YA THINK ZAGATO IS DOING?!" He began to pace in his bubble....
"Zagato kidnapped the Pillar, the person our world NEEDS to survive, and she is dying in captivity, Ascot! He is KILLING HER! And with her, our whole world! Or haven't ya noticed?! Unless what he promised you is the death of everyone who ever hurt you or ya friends, he's not going to keep his promise! BEcause death is the only promise he can keep! If the Pilliar dies, so does CEIPHRO! And everyone and everything on it! He might think he'd become the next Pillar, but he's wrong! He can't! I can't! It's not just tha power, it's tha temperament! All he is doing is killing our world! There won't be a place for friends or enemies then, there won't be a Ceiphro! Whoever your friends are, tha only way to keep them safe is to rescue Emeraude!"
