January & February Test Drive

It's that time again!

( she waited. not so patiently. until he removed a recorder. a tut left her lips and shifted her footing, victoria set her palms to her hips. )

Well, you've already mentioned that you know the Doctor, didn't you? Of course you know about his silly little recorder. That doesn't tell me who you are though! ( ~~victoria, please.~~ she did raise her brows though.
) But how did you get it from him?

That's the part you might not believe. You do know the Doctor isn't human, right?

Well, I mean, I suppose so. But he was still a perfectly pleasant chap. ( even so, the doctor ( her doctor ) had never gotten around to telling her about his race. she hadn't been with him long enough to get into the nitty gritty of his past. she had wanted out from the terrifying travel just about as soon as she had gotten into it. )

Well, he's a Time Lord, actually. And Time Lords-- well, when they die [or are forced to change] They don't exactly die. Instead all the cells in their body change and regenerate and they become, on the outside at least, a completely new person.

Fantastic, isn't it?

( —die?! mercy, please. she'd beg for it. she didn't want the thought of his death on her mind!! what could have possibly caused it?! as a rush of terrified thoughts filled her she forced herself to try shaking it off so that she might hear the words coming out of his mouth.

... a new person? ) That's... all very scientific, isn't it? ( time lords? she supposed that bit made well enough sense. traveling through time and space. she could grant him that. but a new body? a new face? )

Y- You're not implying that he's... ( her emotions weren't going to hold together if the choke in her small voice was anything to go by. ) ...that he's died are you? ( because that would just break her head. new face or not. )

I'm saying that he's me. I'm we. The Doctor. Hallo. [finger wave]

( and she stared at him rather blankly. there should have been, by all rights, something utterly eloquent to come out of her mouth. after all, victoria was ( originally ) a victorian lady. but instead all he got was: ) Well that's just improbable, isn't it!! Meeting here! Now! Like this!! H- How utterly and strangely convenient is this, really!

Life can be utterly convenient at times. [especially here] Any way I can prove it to you?

Well I...! Well I don't know, do I? ( she folded her arms like the stubborn young girl she was and glanced off into the distance. if he was her doctor he would know about the daleks and... but she didn't want to talk about when that part of her life happened. it was quite dreadful. and she had mentioned the harris family herself so there was no counting on that to come from him, either! ) How does one prove themselves, really? ( a frown but then it hit her! she glanced to him with renewed determination. )

If you're the Doctor... then where is Jamie? ( that's right. she had left him with the doctor when she bid farewell. so he must know where he might be. )

Not here. [he spreads his hands] We've been pulled to a different place. A splinter dimension. Not all of us. Only some. For whatever reason. I almost wish he were here. D'you know I haven't seen Jamie properly in about seven hundred years or so...

( her head was really reeling now. seven hundred years? that would mean that jamie was long dead! and... shouldn't she be dead, too, then? perhaps if she were thinking of time as linear. but that was silly. the doctor had made that abundantly clear when she had traveled with him. she touched her hands to her head as though trying to stop the world from spinning though nothing really was moving about around her at all. )

Y- You haven't seen him in... W- Was he well, though? Was he... ( ...happy? )

[she's obviously distressed. He wished he could hug her but that would probably frighten her more than anything]

He is and will be fine. Nothing can keep him down for long. He misses you, of course, but he's well.

( it might have been a tad bit of a comfort. if she were on board with him being the doctor. then again, was she still questioning it? he appeared to know her. he recalled the recorder and he even knew jamie. still, she couldn't help but to smile when he mentioned that he had missed her. well, too right he did!! )

D- Did he? That does sound like my— ( errrr. back that up. ) o- our Jamie, yes. Never being pushed down for long. ( apart from water, apparently. ) Is it really you, honestly? H- How... What an interesting new face at least. You've gotten rather young in your— ( —old age...? ) —um, travels.

[he smiles warmly]

We can come back any age. Any face. Any gender. But the core remains the same. I can even do the voice a bit still -- hold on.

[he closes his eyes, trying to remember, then shifts his stance, moving in a bit closer to her and patting her shoulder, saying in an-- well at least somewhat recognizable imitation of his past face]

Well, come along, my dear. Plenty to see.

( talk about a rather large amount of variables to the altering of forms! she smiled though as he readjusted himself and attempted to sound like the dark haired, elderly doctor that she remembered. well, that was proof enough right there, wasn't it? her palm covered her mouth as a soft giggle escaped her. it sounded quite silly coming from someone who appeared so young but it was, without a doubt, her doctor. )

I can scarcely believe it. Doctor, look at you. I- I didn't even realize that it had been so long! It hasn't been for me you know. It wasn't only just that we parted but certainly not seven hundred years have passed. ( considering she'd be well gone if it had. )

Time is funny like that. [he takes her hand again and continues to lead her to the gate] Even more shocking is this face is the ninth face I've had. You were with me on my second. But this ones not so bad. What do you think?

[strikes a pose]

( this time, as she'd become keenly aware of whom is holding her hand, she more readily went along with him. she raised her brows as he spoke. it was a little jarring. so many — didn't that mean he'd died that many times? it caused a frown to etch her features. )

B- But doesn't that mean that you've... ( oh, goodness. she really didn't want to voice it. with any luck he might be able to guess what she was trying ( not ) to say. )

Gotten handsomer? Well I don't like to brag but I'm certainly dynamic. Besides which I have actual muscle now. Very useful.

( ... well, she couldn't help but to laugh at that one. certainly not what she had expected to come from her trailing off. it was much better than where she had been going with it. he'd gotten a much better sense of humor in his old age, it seemed. ~~no offense to his earlier self.~~ )

I can only imagine with all the things you encounter with your travels. Muscle is a good thing to have, yes. ( she lacked it physically but at least her vocal chords were strong. )
