What natural abilities were those?

[Billy finds himself instantly curious. As usual.]

Different sorts of sensors mostly, and the ability to send and receive pings. I can't tell if my ability to see data was never Bent back, or if there's just no data there to see, but the Sight that I have and an Angelii is... sort of similar. Enough that I don't miss it quite as much any more.

[Billy knows those words. He has to smile.]

All of that sounds incredibly useful. Like a...to use an imprecise term, computer wizard.

Well, I don't know about that; I'm just a hacking program. Though some of the tricks I can do in system do tend to resemble Bending; they just take a lot more code work to set up.

Name's Clu, by the way.

I'm Billy, pleased to meet you.

[His voice betrays confusion, but his voice is as warm as ever.]

You're...a hacking program with the most complex interface I've ever seen. I don't want to bombard you with questions, but if I understand...

That's incredible.

[That's OK, Billy, Nautilus has that effect.]

I'm not sure what you mean by an interface, but go ahead. I don' t mind questions, though just fair warning that I might not have all the answers.

I've worked with programs before, but we've never interacted so...directly. You must be part of one of the most incredible systems in history. Or the future from my perspective, most likely.

Are there other programs here?

Yeah, I'm not actually sure it would be possible without Nautilus' help, but [shrugs] here I am.

And actually I was written in a rather small system; I mean, I always liked it, but I'm not sure I'd call it incredible. That might depend what side of the screen you're on though; things on the User's side are a lot different than they are for us programs.

I'm the only program here in Nautilus. I have been since I arrived here, and I haven't found any records of others like me being here before. I think I may have been brought here by mistake, honestly.
