And so he did. Billy gaped down at it, poking at the uneven grooves with his fingers.

"It's real. I can't believe it...or, well, I suppose I can if doing so is a prerequisite to bending," he laughed. "Thank you."

Clef gave him a warm smile. "With some practice, you'll gain confidence, and will be able to replicate more complicated things from home, and even create things that you've never experienced before."

"Wouldn't you have to fully understand how a thing works in order to imagine it?"

Possible with research, he supposed. But it'd be a tall order.

He gave him a warm smile. "That is what research is for. I had to learn how cookies tasted, looked, smelled, and then Jane taught me about convection cooking, and I researched." And the school storm helped, as much as he was loathe to admit anything good came of that.

"And now..." He focused and a tray appeared in his hand, loaded down with three different kinds of cookies. "These are not a thing anyone in my world could make, cooking is not this advanced. Please, feel free to help yourself. My son loves these. I learned to make cookies for him, in the first place."
