Lars could feel his face turning pinker at the grown man's tone and the look he was giving him. He felt like an idiot for even asking, the look reminding him of ones he got far too often in school back when he'd bothered to go. His throat worked silently as he struggled between the urge to yell or just grumble agreement in the hopes it would be over faster that way.

It was stupid, how a look and the way someone spoke to him could take him right back to the Lars he'd been before homeworld, and he tried to remember all that had happened since then and the mantra that he didn't need to feel ashamed of being afraid or uncertain, but it was a lot harder to hold onto alone.

Lars swallowed hard and made himself look up at this Doctor, his face burning and eyes prickling with frustrated tears.

"All because you understand and I don't doesn't mean you have to be such a jerk about it!" he snapped, finally finding his voice at last. "I just asked how I got here and how I can leave and what's going on and you keep saying the same thing and acting like that's enough. Well it's not, okay! Not everyone is just gonna understand what you say because you say it the exact same way while acting like they're stupid for not getting it! You didn't even try!"

Anger won out and left Lars panting and clearly upset, and he was suddenly acutely aware of how he must look, tearing up like a baby over this.

"Just leave me alone!" And with that, he dashed the tears from his eyes and turned on his heel to run in a random direction, all the careful concern about danger forgotten. He just needed to get away and hide.
