"Sorry, just calling it how it looks. Compiling even with sprites tends to change from minute to minute."

"On most worlds connected to this one, the average upper age is two or three hundred years." One hundred, Clef. One hundred. "I am Seven hundred and forty six. I have not been a child in a very long time. In my world, unless we choose to age past that point, once we attain a certain level of magic and control, we stop aging. On my world, my appearance would make it clear to any who see me that I am powerful. Age becomes presumed. The Princess who is the strongest amongst us, who prays so that we might all be safe and well looks younger than I. The strongest summoner in the history of my realm, younger still. In appearance only, I assure you."

"Well that makes sense. I mean, you're in a much different situation than I am. I get it."

"Good. Fine." Could they please go back to comparative linguistics?

Yeah they could. It would probably be a good point that they'd talk into the day.

"Binary?" he prompted....

"Binary's the subset of language we have. I'm speaking it now, but it's a mess of 1s and 0s. Binomes are sprites who resemble them."

"So this is another case where the translation magic of this world hinders learning," he said with a disappointed sigh.

"Not precisely. If you have a datapad or some kind of writing utensil I can write the language." said Bob.

"I can get that, but this place translates the written word as well. I am studying that currently." But he touched the gem in his glove and out came a scroll of paper and a self inking quill pen. He offered both over.

Taking it, he started to write. It was all 1s and 0s but soon it mutated into the writing. "Huh, about that."

Well, it would probably read as 1s and 0s to Bob. If it didn't Clef very much would like to know. Clef presumed the reaction to what he had said and nodded. "I suspect it is behind the difficulties I have had in attempting to teach my son to spell."

"That's odd. I guess it should be easier to read but it's also one of those things that makes me look a little odd. Considering I should be speaking binary too."

"I presumed you thought you were."

"Yeah, I was. Funny how that works out."

"Or frustrating. Fascinating either way."

"That's true. There's plenty to learn here though, if we can make it work."

He nods. "I rather like the library here."

"A library's like a codex right?" said Bob.

"A library can contain any number of Codexes."

"So a bunch of read.me files. I got it. We'll have to check out the place then."

"Follow me," He turned and headed that way.

Bob followed towards the building, and whistled. "Nice architecture."

He nodded, ascending. "The main room is just up this way. Books from a myriad different worlds on countless topics."

"No Vid Windows?" asked Bob as he strolled along the hallway looking at the books. Books. What an odd thing to call a codex.
