I'm sorry (almost).
"Oh, dear. It is a bit much, isn't it? Waking..."

"I'm sorry, I'm making a scene," she said, rising to her feet. "I just... Oh, I'm so worried about him!" she choked out, her bravery and dignity having lasted all of twenty seconds.

It was the same strategy everyone else used on him, after all... calm him down, tell him the news. But it had an equal purpose for him: to learn more about this creature - because she's clearly not human, which is good. The less squishy little humans that were there for the Doctors to dote over, the better.
He'd dressed a little bit more like Pearl would remember humans from about a century or so before Steven was born - still a suit and cap, but just a touch ragged. "I'm Aden, and this is the city of Nautilus. It's an odd question, but: are you familiar with ... space travel?"
no subject
"Thank you, Aden. I appreciate the - " Information, she'd been intending to say, but his question caught her off guard. "...Why, yes, I am. Are you, though?"
Because this man looked like he came from a time on Earth far too early to know about that.

He shakes his head. "But that was there, and this is here, which is ... different. They say it's another dimension, which I'm still not really understanding much. But there's all kind of queer things going on: no money, everyone makes things with their minds out of some sort of ... chaos energy? It's all still mostly Greek to me."
It wasn't, actually, of course, but it was astounding how much you could find out about someone by pretending you weren't as smart as them.

"You know, it really is remarkable, some of the new situations I've seen you humans adapt to... I think you'll be alright," she offered, along with a small smile. But, again, moving on... "You're from Earth, I assume? Well... Your dimension's Earth, if that's... What's going on here..."
This was, admittedly, getting a bit confusing - which made Pearl quite susceptible to the man's act. "I've lived on Earth for hundreds of years, myself, but I'm from a different planet back in my dimension - as you can probably guess, I'm not exactly human."

He tucks his hand into his pocket and pulls out a silver fobwatch, the cover etched with intricate lines and circles, and pops it open to check the time. The inside is just as intricate ... maybe a little fancy for someone dressed the way he is.
"Wherever you're actually from ... it's not all humans here. I talked to a dragon for a little while the other day. And a six-inch-tall man. ... And an automobile. So don't worry too much about sticking out."
