"Well, I suppose it was right in one sense," she pointed out. "I am a new arrival... though to where, I'm not sure. I didn't intend to arrive anywhere like this."

She gave him a reassuring smile. "Oh, I've had worse, don't worry. Though perhaps it might need some refinement before the next experiment?"

"Hello! Can I help you?" Rose is out in her blue leather jacket and jeans, but with thick fluffy pink boots instead of the usual running trainers. There's a good two feet of snow, after all.

"Nautilus."

Helpfully he provided the name with the a flash of a smile.

"Most people can't remember having chosen to arrive here until some one asks them if they recall hearing a voice which implored them to 'wake'. Obviously you chose to accept the invitation or you wouldn't be here."

The small egg device was rolled around in his hand as clearly it did need a little work, but... only a little he thought. The barreling into people aside it had performed as desired.

"This only needs a slight adjustment to it's proximity sensors. A very minor fix. So you won't need to worry about getting a helmet to wear while you're here."

Well now. That was new. But it got nothing but a raised eyebrow as she took the scarf and began to wrap it around her neck. "Thank you," she murmured, truly grateful. It was rather chilly.

A lot of the names he reeled off she knew - Jack and Ianto especially. Romana was vaguely familiar, but she would have to try and remember that. Lady Me? That was someone she didn't know, at least not that she could remember. "A few of your other faces?" That stuck out. "Should I be worried about more than one of you? The world won't come to an end, will it?"

Whereas Kate is most definitely not dressed for the cold. Who failed to read the weather forecast? But the sight of someone who had last been seen in the companionship of the Doctor surprised Kate. "I, uh, appear to have gotten lost," she said with a small self-depreciating smile.

At the Doctor mentioning someone to imploring people to wake something triggered in a memory. A voice, calling out to her... it was something she would have to think about some more.

"Well, from what you say, I would no longer be considered a new arrival, so your device wouldn't trigger on me, wouldn't you say? Though it should be easy enough to tweak the proximity sensors. What are you asking it to focus on?"

Oh, did she mention she was a scientist?

"You are new enough. The device couldn't have had time to digitally scan you into it's system, so even if it has sent the warning signal to the Observatory I'm afraid it would still fly right at your head if I were to let it go again now."

He doesn't let it go of course, just smiles in that way one does when they find themselves impressed at a question. This Doctor did always enjoy being in the company of fellow scientists.

"It has a crystal memory core that records faces and names. So if it doesn't recognize you then it will consider you a 'new arrival' until it does."

He plucked a small screwdriver from his pocket, opened a hatch on the device, and set about tweaking the settings.

"I could go ahead and input your name if you wouldn't mind terribly telling me what it is?"

Well, the large tower with the metal roof and arrow slits instead of windows might be a bit of a detail. Especially given the silvery mechanic reindeer guarding the only door and the huge work table outside the tower that was covered in metal scraps and scorch marks.

While she was staring, the one door opened, and a woman walked out, a heavy leather apron over her green and white dress, glasses on her nose and goggles over her red-blond hair. A sigil of a trilobite was around her neck, and she was talking to what looked like it had once been a small pocket watch before someone gave it a huge eye and small limbs.

"Because if you help me with this experiment, the acids might melt you, that's why," the woman was saying. "That's why. I really don't want to have to rebuild you from scrap. You want to be helpful, get Billy and the Doctor, and make sure they bring heavy gloves."

If Kate didn't move or get her attention, the woman would walk right into her....

Well, there was Big Ben. And there was the Eiffel Tower. And between them, a rather impressive house.

And if Gabriel knew that the cat had left the front door ajar and the gate wide open... well... there would be questions along with anger. But for the moment... there was what looked like an invitation....

The cat in question was up in a tree, watching the house, waiting for Adrien. But when he saw someone new... well he had to harass them. And really, keeping people from Gabriel was doing them all a favour.

So the orange cat stretched, then launched himself towards her shoulder. Which might have worked better if he had not insisted on a battle cry.... "DEATH FROM ABOVE!"

"Kate. Kate Stewart," she said with a faint smile. "And I would really rather not be hit again by it, so yes, please do make it recognize me."

She cocked her head. "Crystal core? How easy was that to get hold of here?" It would give her some clues, at least.

"Stewart?"

He paused in his work to lift a curious brow at her but soon settled back in to making the adjustments. After all even if the name was a familiar one many people did have that surname.

"Crystal cores are extremely easy to find here."

By way of demonstration he held a free hand out and bent one up. The small core was a palm sized crystal of the purest dimensions and it appeared merely because he had willed it to.

"A very pretty crystal worthy of becoming a pendant on a necklace but when hooked into the right sort of machinery it can become a very powerful information storage and delivery system. Much better than microchips!

It's called bending. If you remain here any length of time you'll pick it up."

Ten almost wishes more catastrophe things happened around here; excitement and maybe himselves would be able to work together - rather than - let's just say they don't all get along peacefully.

"Not all of me get along with myself." Ten remarks dryly, as well as too long as well.

A pause and less dry; "You'll in for a treat, you are. My face that knew your father is here."

Jack considers the question with another smile. "Natulius," he asks, "it's hard to explain but it's not in our reality as I understand it. It's outside it which means more than one version of a person can be here at any given time. It helps explain why there is more than one version of the Doctor here." He forms a ball of golden light in his hand and bounces it. "And it explains how we can Bend but I lost my immorality."

Air Raid | Transformers G1

[personal profile] prince_of_peril 2019-02-10 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: No intention of apping for now. Just getting a feel back for one very-rusty old voice + trying things out. Also continutity is mainly the G1 cartoon, but pulling a few smatterings from the comics + later series (such as Primus, etc)]

A.

So this wasn't the biggest city Air Raid had ever seen, not by far, but it was brand-new to him, so the mech has gone exploring, checking out the various districts. The Cybertronian-sized buildings defintely catch his interest, and he pokes around them more thoroughly... disheartened to find that most are empty and abandoned. He ends up finding the Northern district very interesting. Big Ben, and the smaller-than-normal Eiffel Tower get a curious glance out of him, as he's seen the real things before on various flights over Europe, and he wonders if they were the real thing, pulled into this reality, or just copies; in the end he realizes it doesn't make much difference. Med Bay, even if it does seemed to be staffed by organics, really does feel like Ratchet would be right at home there. The Transfomer-sized buildings next to it look like they could have housed a bunch of mechs, but... like the other buildings, it seems to have been empty for ages. Furman's Bar is cool, and hey! It even serves energon! Air Raid thinks he might have heard some of the older Autobots mentioning something about a Furmans, maybe. There just weren't any here to ask...

B.

Air Raid was bored. There really wasn't much for the lone-Transformer in the city to do. Much like on Earth, every 'fun' thing was human-sized! And he really couldn't go flying off to another city, or another continent or anything... so for the moment, Air Raid was entertaining himself by flying out over an open patch of ocean, and seeing how many loop-de-loops he could pull off in a row before he got dizzy, and/or his engines stalled out. Either way ended up with him crashing down into the ocean, transforming at the last minute for a spectacular bellyflop - it created a huge splash, but didn't really cause TOO much serious damage, and he'd trudge along the bottom of the sea floor back to dry land and sit in the sun for a bit until everything dried out, and try again. Currently he was up to 16 loop-de-loops in a row, and was pulling up into number 17.

Well, on one of her morning flights around the city - typical of Irene's regiment to get herself moving - this was... certainly new.

Irene paused, midair, almost somewhat contented to watch the show for the time being. It'd been a while since she'd seen Cybertronians about the city, even longer since she'd found another who could at least appreciate a good flight.

She perched on the beach, herself, waiting for the Cybertronian to emerge from the ocean.

"I'll give it a seven out of ten," she said idly.

Knees-deep in sand and mud, and trailing more than a few strangs of seaweed from his wings and nosecone, Air Raid blinked in surprise at the human, not having expected an audience... then broke out into a huge grin."

"Only seven? Come on... You have to give me at least eight for that spectacular belly-flop I just did at the end there, right?"

Irene gave him a wry half-smile in kind, waving off his protest.

"Don't get me wrong, the technique isn't half-bad, but a swan dive would have shown a bit more finesse."

She stretched idly where she stood, then with arms akimbo.

"New around here?"

Okay, so admittedly she'd fallen behind on the Network, sue her.

Kicking off a bit of the excess sand - or at least trying to - Air Raid plunked himself down on a sparsely-grassy knoll, and began plucking the seaweed off of his parts, tossing them back into the water. He chuckled roughly, and nodded in agreement.

"Heh, yeah, perhaps. But if I hit the water at just the wrong angle doing that swan dive, it might bend my nosecone back, and you won't believe how much that stings..." He paused in his clean-up efforts, blinking at a crab that was clinging onto the most recently removed strips of seaweed, then grinned sheepishly as he set it down carefully on the beach. "Eh... sorry there, fella. Hope you enjoyed the free trip."

Looking back towards the lady, Air Raid offered her a half-charming (in his opinion), still half-sheepish grin. He lowered a hand, holding it out to her at roughly human-chest height. "Yeah. Just been a few weeks. Name's Air Raid. I'm an Aerialbot... of the Autobots." He paused, and then laughed lightly. "If either of those words mean anything to you, here."

Yeah, sure, there were Cybertronian-sized buildings about, but nothing really to indicate they'd actually been here. From what he'd seen at least, so far.

"Eh, point taken, since you might want to hold off on messing up your frame for the time being until you learn how to Bend." Ratchet had been gone from the city for a while, now, and Irene could imagine this newbie would be in some trouble if he damaged himself.

Understanding the gesture for what it is, she placed her hand against his as best she could, returning it in what could be called a shake between the two.

"Name's Irene, sometimes friendly neighborhood aertak and Ashura," she replied evenly. "And as it happens, heh, I did know a few Autobots that Woke and ended up here, a while back. Been a while since I've seen a Cybertronian in the city."

Air Raid winced faintly. "You've got a good point, yourself. I dunno how good any of your mechanics here - if there ARE any - are at fixing jets, let alone Autobots..." So that meant no more "stupid stunts", as Prowl would put it. Air Raid grumbled and sighed as he propped his chin in his hand, elbow on his knee, allowing himself a brief moment to pout. This would just make things even more boring, if he had to play it so carefully to avoid getting damaged, even a little.

The size difference certainly made things awkward, but Air Raid grinned as he moved his hand to his lap, relaxing. His expression then morphed into one of confusion. "Uhh... now I'm the one lost here. I think I heard that Ashura term on that welcome thingie... but I haven't heard of a... ....airtack?" He winced, realizing he got it wrong. "What is that?"

He did straighten up a little at the news that there had been Cybertronians in the city, and Autobots at that. "Really? Who? When? How long has it been?" he asked, in barely restrained enthusiasm.

... Well, that was a sight Nita hadn't expected to see, and that was saying something.

Waiting until it looked like the Cybertronian wasn't busy enjoying himself, Nita walked over to greet him.

Air Raid looked up as the girl approached, and raised his hand, waving cheerfully at her.

"Hey there! I'm Air Raid. I think my engines are a little flooded after that last splash-down, but I'll be okay once they dry out." Just kind of sucks in the waiting department - something that has never been Air Raid's strong suit - but at least there was someone to talk to, now!

He placed his hands on his hips, and studied her curiously. "...You're not surprised by me, or anything? Are you familiar with Transformers?"
