Takato jumps in surprise at her voice, and almost drops his digivice. He breathes out in relief as he manages to recapture it, only then looking up to see who it is.

She didn'tlook like a digimon, but there were some digimon who looked a lot like humans.

"I'm okay!" he calls out. He puts his digivice away and pulls a folded piece of paper out of his pockets. Unfolding it, it is revealed be a carefully colored drawing of a red dinosaur-like creature.

"I'm looking for someone. Have you seen anyone who looks like this around here?"

Zelda's brow furrows slightly as she examines the paper. Is this young man looking for some kind of... wingless dragon? No wait, there was another word for that in some worlds, she just has to think for a few seconds....

But in the meantime, her new acquaintance deserves a proper answer. "I'm afraid not," she shakes her head, "though you shouldn't give up hope. Many people pass through Nautilus; perhaps he'll arrive after you."

[dreamtamer]

His expression becomes downcast for a moment at the negative answer. "I guess. I was just really hoping I could meet him again." He blinks, and looks curious. "Nautilus? What's that?"

Maybe this wasn't the Digital World after all.

Zelda could sympathize with that. "You still might, you know. Perhaps you'll even find a way to do so from here. What might be the case now is often not the same as what will be later."

She tried for a reassuring smile; the boy seemed to need it at the moment.

"Nautilus is the name of the city we're in. And the name of the... living entity that is also the city, I suppose you could say."

[dreamtamer]

He smiles and nods. "I'll just have to keep looking. I promised him that we'd play together again someday, so I can't give up."

He frowns with some confusion. "This city is a person?"

"If that is what your heart tells you," Zelda replies softly, thinking of another brave boy who did not give up, "then that is what you must do."

She nods. "You could say that. The city is sentient. It gives gifts. It plays pranks. And sometimes,"

-there's a bit of stress on the last bit, so Takato might want to pay attention-

"it calls to people from other worlds, inviting them to come live with it for a while."

[dreamtamer]

"Other worlds?" he repeats. "Is that what happened to me?"

"That it is," she nods.

"And everyone else here as well. You'll be able to go home eventually, if you like, but I'm afraid you can't return right now."

[dreamtamer]

"Why? Is this a part of the Digital World after all?"

It could be a very strange place sometimes. Nothing she'd mentioned so far would be terribly out of place.

That gets a quizzical look. "The Digital World?"

So... had the young man traveled worlds before, then? Though it can't be that uncommon, Zelda supposes. Even Hyrule has planes of reality running alongside it and around it, for all she has never been to them.

"What I meant is that anyone who arrives here can leave, once they learn how to manipulate the Gates to other worlds. But you have to learn how, first, and it is a skill you'll have to work toward."

[dreamtamer]

"Mmm, I went there once. This place doesn't look much like it, but I wondered if it might just be somewhere I hadn't been before."

He frowns. "That makes sense, I guess. But what is this place?"

[wisdominshadows]

"This place? That's complicated."

Zelda pauses, looking around for some inspiration in her explanation.

"So you've been to another world before, then? Nautilus...is sort of like that, I suppose- but it's a world between all world, not a few. It's surrounded by a type of energy, or magic- the power of chaos, and of creation. So theoretically, you could go anywhere from here- even build your own world, if you were powerful and skilled enough. Does that make any sense to you?"

[dreamtamer]

"I don't really get it, but it sounds amazing." His expression turns thoughtful. "What about worlds where the way there is locked? Do you think it would be possible to get there from here?"

[wisdominshadows]

Huh. Now that's an interesting problem to consider, one that Zelda takes a few moments to turn over before she answers.

"For a skilled enough traveler? I don't see why not. But perhaps you might want to take the question to an Ashura, one of the most skilled among us. I believe some of them travel fairly regularly."

[dreamtamer]

"I will! Do you know where they are?"

Takato was starting to feel more hopeful. The way to the Digital World from his own world had been sealed behind concrete and firewalls. But if there was another way, he had to try.

She nods.

"One of them lives in the Northern District. I don't know her well, but she may be willing to help."
