Adela tried to smile kindly, immediately understanding what had just happened. She remembered how lost and alone she felt waking, even such a long time later. She didn't approach when she saw that the other was still clearly frightened, instead keeping her voice soft, though making sure that she could still be heard.
"This place is called Nautilus, and... It is a little difficult to explain, but I will try my best. Do you remember a voice saying to wake, in something like a dream?"

Raphtalia thought for a moment, and nodded slowly. ".. I thought it was my lord, Master Naofumi, but when I woke up he wasn't there." her ears fold down against her head, ".. he wasn't anywhere." Not anywhere she's looked yet anyway!

There was some benefit to reading up on all of this after all, apparently. She still didn't approach, instead making herself comfortable sitting down because she had a feeling they were going to be there a while and she wanted to make it clear to Raphtalia that Adela had no intention of approaching or harming her. It looked like the girl had a hard enough time as it was...
"If I may ask, is Naofumi an important person to you?" She needed to know because those chains, referring to him as master, the chances were high that this girl had been a slave. It was a dark thought, but she needed to know if only to make certain that the girl would be protected here.

Her ears twitched again Adela sat down, and instinctively she did the same, perching on the nearest rock. Easier to jump up and run if she needed to, but Adela didn't seem like she meant harm yet. Although at the latter question, Raphtalia looked puzzled. "Um..." Important person? She's not quite sure what Adela's asking here - he's her Master so that makes him important doesn't it?
no subject
She let Raphtalia stay quiet for a while, but when it was clear she wasn't sure of how to answer, Adela decided she'd try to clarify, "Is he someone you care about? Someone who cares for you and your well-being?"
She didn't know how else to put it, at least not without prying too much. Child or not, this girl's affairs were still her own after all, and maybe it was in part thanks to knowing Link and how competent he was but she felt like she needed to give this girl at least some respect and personal space.

Ah, the question makes a bit more sense now, so Raphtalia ponders on it again before giving her response. "Um... Master is scary sometimes.. but he gave me new clothes, and a ball, and he gave me food...and medicine when I was sick. I don't ...think he's a bad person. He's one of the heroes of legend, so he can't be bad." OH. "And he said as long as I fight for him, he can protect me." Which .. to be honest, that someone who treated her relatively kindly, even if she was just a weapon for him, was a huge improvement on being kept in a cage, slowly dying.

She nodded, opening her eyes to the other again, "As for this world, I... I am unsure. It has come under siege in the past, but I have yet to see anything powerful enough to truly threaten Nautilus itself for my own eyes. I believe we were brought here to learn to bend, hone our wills, and use that power to protect other worlds and keep them on their intended paths."

Hold on, wait, what? Raphtalia looks perplexed again, "..Um, Miss, I already know how to bend." See, she's even going to demonstrate, hopping off her rock to bend delicately for a second, then pop back up like a jack in the box and reclaim her seat. "See?"

Nehra this girl was adorable. While trying to hold back at least some of her amusement, she held up her empty hands, then cupped one before, like nothing at all, a small loaf of bread seemed to form then and there.
"Bending is in reference to bending the world around to one's will. You can do it as well, with enough time and practice. And it is by Nautilus's will that we are here to begin with."
She broke the bread in two then, taking a bite from one half of the loaf before extending the other for Raphtalia to take, at once hoping to show her it was real and that it wasn't poisonous in the least.

The sight of it reminded her that she hadn't eaten yet, and her tail wags slightly, betraying her interest in the treat. Any kind of bread would do, honestly, even plain three day old bread. She's a growing girl, she hadn't had breakfast, and she'd been starved for a long time before Naofumi found her. But she was still a little unsure about accepting the bread from Adela, eyeing it suspiciously, then the girl when she took a bite. "... is it for me..?" She asked hesitantly, almost in disbelief. It wouldn't be the first time someone offered her food to get her hopes up, and then laughed and pulled it away again. Leaving her hungry.
Also, Bread Magic. WHO KNEW. She needed to find out more about this bread making magic, so when Naofumi showed up she would impress him with all she knew and he wouldn't want to abandon her!

If Raphtalia took too long she would try approaching, especially since it looked like she was a little bit less afraid than before. If she approached, Adela would keep her hand outstretched until the bread was in the girl's hands. Either way, she wanted to prove she was being genuine in her gesture.

When she was about halfway through the bread she remembered her manners, and quickly - and forcefully swallowed a large lump of bread, beating her chest for a second to make sure it went down. "T.. Thank you."

She returned to her own bread, eating peacefully but also looking up every so often. Even if they were relatively out in the open, a monster or the like could sneak up on them... And the last thing they needed to deal was with an attack today. Still, when she was done with her own bread she still sat, adjusting her position a little but not getting up just yet.
"My name is Adela, by the way. May I know your name?"

She blinked at the question, almost as if it were a strange one to her, but instead she made to answer, "Because I wish to, and it seems like you need at least a little help for now. Is that not enough reason?"
