- Grimlock is currently highly intelligent. At the same time, there's some resentment over his treatment previously that gives him something of an attitude.

- He's actually not sure he wants to identify as either Autobot or Decepticon.

- He's trying to increase the power of his weapon systems, but only if he can understand the technology... he's trying his best to avoid bending anything that doesn't exist via the laws of physics.

- He's secretly terrified he'll one day lose his intelligence. There's a bit of resentment for his old self rolled up in there.
