lololol that icon
Nnnn, you'd be surprised. What, are you saying you're... some kind of ghost, or spirit?
[He shakes his head in response to the question about the name.]
No, sorry. But I can see things most humans can't, so... maybe that's why.
Re: lololol that icon
[ He steps onto a fallen tree trunk and keeps walking along it, balancing with cat-like ease, with his staff over his shoulder. He looks back at Ginko thoughtfully; he can't say he's not disappointed, because this means no one believes in him still, but he's still glad to be able to talk to someone, and his curiosity is piqued. ]
I've never heard of anybody who could see without believing. How'd you do that?

Just your name, huh. [And doesn't that sound familiar... though he'd found out more about himself eventually.] Mmm? Oh, that's just the way I am. [Which isn't much of an answer, he knows.] Some humans can; I'm not unique. It's on the rare side, but... there's people out there like me.
[He eyes the boy for a moment, speculatively.] I'm surprised you've never run into one of us before.

[ He hooks his staff onto a stout overhanging branch and jumps, swinging deftly to the ground. The landing is...heavier than he's used to. He's forgotten the feeling of gravity. There's a great groaning and snapping of twigs, and the tree he just used to jump down uproots itself, almost indignantly, to walk away off through the forest. He stares after it, stunned, then looks back at Ginko, then back at the walking tree. ]
...I've...also never seen anything like that.
no subject
One that's decided it doesn't like this place in the forest, and it's going to find a new one. If you're not too busy being stunned yourself, enjoy the look on Ginko's face--he doesn't often get taken by surprise.]
...the hell is this place? I've never seen anything like that either.
[How the hell is it even doing that.]
Where's it going?

[ And with that he's off, chasing the tree, heedless to caution. As he approaches it lifts a root to swat him away, knocking him on his back, but he laughs and sits back up, apparently unharmed. ]
Uh, hah, maybe we should follow it from a distance.
no subject
Jack gets a mildly annoyed look in response to that snicker, but Ginko doesn't make a thing of it.]
Yeah, that's--
[Aaaand he's talking to empty air. With a sigh, he follows after the energetic spirit-boy, actually making an effort to keep up--though he refuses to break into a run.
And then it's his turn to chuckle when the tree swats the kid out of the air, once he catches up and it's clear Jack isn't hurt.]
Thanks for demonstrating that it doesn't want to give us a ride. We'll just have to follow after it on our own two feet.

You're...different. [ The change of subject is sudden, and Jack turns around, walking backwards while regarding Ginko incredulously. ] You're human, but you can see stuff most people can't. You don't know who the Tooth Fairy or the Man in the Moon are, but you're more surprised by a walking tree than you are by me. What kind of stuff do you see?
no subject
[Ginko grins around his cigarette as he walks along. Now that the shock of it has worn off... this really isn't much weirder than some of the stuff he's seen. The only really weird thing about it is that the tree doesn't look like it's been influenced by mushi, or really any different from any other tree here.
...if nothing else, he's quickly coming to the conclusion that this is a very odd forest.]
Mmmm... well. It's a little hard to just say the kind of stuff I tend to see... [And of course, Ginko liked telling a good story. Now he just had to think of one... nothing too dark or boring, but...
Oh, that one would be perfect.] ...though I once saw a living rainbow. That one was pretty impressive, I have to admit.
[Now the kid just had to take the bait...]
no subject
What's a living rainbow do that's different from a normal rainbow?
[ They crest the hill, and below there's a pond. He can see the tree down by the water's edge, putting down roots and settling back into the dirt. ] What do you know? Looks like it already found a drink.
no subject
[He looks down the hill at the tree, now settling into its new location like it had never been anywhere else. That is just strange.]
It took us a while to find it; the guy I was traveling around with wanted to bring it back to show his father.
...think any other trees are going to move, if we stand here long enough?
[Though he kind of wants to get down there and check out that tree, maybe poke at it a little. Mushi have to be behind this... right?]
