"Yeah, never in that sort of thing. If Papillon could do that sort of thing, he probably wouldn't be so desperate for the other Miraculous," Adrien said. At least he was more than willing to believe something like that existed. "Time Lords? Is that what you are?"

At the Time Lord question, the Doctor nods once.

"It's why I'm having problems here."

Because, well, with his Time Sense gone, he's blind.

"Well, another universe, makes sense your lordliness wouldn't transfer over, huh?" Adrien asked. "Time would flow differently, even if it's not easy to perceive."

"Wrong."

He sighs, he's trying to be patient, but it's difficult because no Time Sense.

"It's a sense for me. Like seeing or hearing or touching. It can cause me headaches in strange universes, like when you need glasses, but this time it's not there at all."

He looks Adrien up and down.

"When I look at you, I should have some sense of something about you. Even if it's just your age, I should be able to see it, like a map. And there's nothing."

"I see. That is weirder," Adrien said, looking out over the city. He's silent for several moments. "Is it possible for time to just not work in a place even though things are progressing?"

"There's an entire universe like that. There are no Time Lords there, because there's no time to be lord over. We called it the Divergent Universe."

Teaching is good, he likes to teach. His hand is still clapping...

"Do you think this place could be like that? Did the Divergent Universe get a lot of outsides too?" Adrien asked. Well, it was good information to know either way, right?

[not_the_question]

"I don't think so. There is time here. Watches and such. Time moves along. I just can't sense it."

It's no one else, it's him. Well, that's a change.

"We're here, we're moving. Are watches definite proof? They are just gears moving at set intervals. If there was a cosmic problem, would they change?" Adrien asked.

"I..."

Well, okay. Adrien succeeded in silencing the Doctor for a few moments.

"I can't feel time here, so I can't answer your questions."

It feels like this is a pretty big deal, the fact he stumped this guy. "..."

He nodded his head. "Fair enough. Maybe there will be more people, who could tell you more?"

It is a big deal. A very big deal. The Doctor doesn't know what to do with that or how to reply.

"I hope so..."

"There's a school here. On bending. But if bending is what makes everything in this place, there has to be some understanding of what this place is like. Right?" Adrien said. At least, it was an idea. Something to follow up on.

"You're very optimistic."

The Doctor isn't so sure. Because 'bending' could be this place's way of lulling them into obedience.

He shrugged, crossing his arms. "Of course I am," he said. "How else are you supposed to find a solution when there's seemingly none?"

"Well, I usually use logic, facts, and a bit of science."

More than one reason why he's called 'Doctor'.

"But you need to believe the answers there, don't you?" He asked.

[not_the_question]

"I spent four point five billion years breaking out of a prison, because I knew the answer was out there..."

So, in a word, 'yes'.

"You what." Adrien just looked at him with wide, shocked eyes.

[not_the_question]

"You heard me, let's just give your tiny-brain a chance to catch up."

Sorry, most brains are small compared to his.

He doesn't protest the insult. Adrien rarely does.

"Are you okay?!" Of course, concern is the first solid thought.

[not_the_question]

"I'm half the age of the universe, I've arrived in this strange place without my TARDIS, and apparently all my abilities that make me... me, have been taken away. Why would I be okay?"


Silly human questions...

"That-I mean-" Just billions of year in a prison.

"That's hell."

Not even a question. No sound or anything, just straight up hell. He doesn't think he could take anything like that and stay sane at all.

But did he say in this conversation or another? The mun is getting them confused. Doesn't matter.

"And this place isn't helping."

Besides, he never said he was sane. He's just more sane than most because he has an iron-clad willpower and mental acuity. He's just less sane than he'd like to be.
