Aeon had gone swimming that morning, to see if there was anything interesting living underneath the water. When she surfaced, she had a handful of strange-looking seaweed, and company on the beach.

"Hello," she said, swimming in until she could touch bottom again, and wading back onto the sand. She shook the seaweed out, and gave it an experimental nibble. Hm. Salty. Chewy. Not too bad.

"You look sad, little beauty. What's the drag?"

Xion watched the woman, who she did not know, come out of the ocean and come over to her. There was a moment where she felt like she would have to flee, because Nobodies were taught to do reconnaissance, and wasn't that what she was supposed to be doing?

But no, not here. She didn't have to do that here if she didn't want to, she thinks. Except there might be other Organization members here, and she needed to be careful. She just didn't know, so what she did, instead, was stay where she was, but bring her knees up to her chest, as if she could make herself smaller.

"I'm not sad. Nobodies don't have emotions." Xion said quietly, because that's true. You can't have emotions if you don't have a heart. And she didn't have one. Even if maybe she did feel... something.

"Why are you eating seaweed?" She was curious about that part. It didn't look tasty at all.

"You're not nobody," she replied, crouching down next to her. "That would be impossible. If you're here, you're somebody, aren't you? With a name. And thoughts, and questions."

She pressed a gloved finger to Xion's forehead.

"As for the seaweed ... why not? I was curious."

"I am a Nobody." Xion insisted, watching the woman's finger, until it pressed against her forehead and made her look cross-eyed. She then batted the hand away, brow furrowing as she shuffled backwards.

"I'm not a Somebody, but I do have a name! And thoughts, and questions." Because she had a lot of questions, like where she was, what this place was, how did she get here, where her friends were, what she was doing here, why---

"You're not supposed to eat seaweed. It's gross, it's just supposed to stay in the ocean."

"Says who?"

It was a question with several applications. Who said she was Nobody? Who said you weren't supposed to eat seaweed? She glanced at the clump in her other hand, pursing her lips, then tossed it back into the ocean.

"Plop." She smiled. "It didn't taste too bad, but I wouldn't pick it over much else. ... I'm Aeon. You?"

Xion frowned. Who said? Everyone said. "Superior, and... and everyone, I guess. Everyone says it." Because she was a Nobody. She was, it didn't matter what anyone said, she was one, and that was good. It felt good to belong to something, even if she didn't really agree with some things.

Watching her throw the seaweed back into the ocean made her smile, too, albeit a little shyly. "I'm Xion. Are you from this world?"

"And so you believe them." She said it without judgement. There were, after all, some things which everyone said that could be agreed upon without question. The sky was blue. The ocean was wet. A bullet would kill in the right situations.

"I'm not, no. My name is Aeon Flux. I've just been having a look around, trying to see where I am. I take it you're doing the same thing."

"Yeah. Of course. If they said it, it must be true." Xion firmly believed that, which was a problem, but with the conditioning that came from being indoctrinated into Organization XIII, it's just what she came to accept as the truth.

"Oh. Um, yeah, I just got here, and I don't really know where I am. But I've always wanted to go to the beach. I woke up and heard the ocean." She looked down at the ground. "I've never been to this world before. I've been to a lot of worlds, but never this one."
