Ral O'Dailigh | OC

[personal profile] pie_ladin 2018-11-03 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
One minute, he'd been nodding off pricing a carton of incense cones: the price of a long night spent around the table behind his GM screen. The next, he blinked, jerked himself awake, and found himself standing outside what looked like some sort of gate.

Ral rubbed at his eyes and glanced around, deciding his subconscious had really done a number on him, this time.

"June's gonna kill me if she comes in and finds me asleep." He tried to pull himself awake, as he was sometimes able to do, but when nothing worked, his eyes narrowed in concern. He stretched one arm out, holding it paralell to the ground, fingertips spread wide, and his frown deepened as he felt ... nothing at all, save a slight breeze. "Fark."

He took a deep breath, held it. Looked inward.

Hey. Are you in there? I could use some of that insight of yours, abuse aside.

The Cat, for once, gave him no answer. He turned around, tried to push at the Gate, and found only resistance, like so many others befire him.

"What the hell...?"

He stepped away from the gate, further into the street, and knelt down, pressing his hand to the ground, his trenchcoat pooling around his ankles, shaggy layers of auburn hair falling in his face. As if waiting for something ... or feeling for it.

There's a new face wandering the streets of Verens today, taking everything in with sharp-eyed curiosity. She doesn't seem the least bit bothered by Waking someplace completely different. Someone should probably tell her to put on some pants.

Either way, when she catches you looking, she looks you up and down, quirking the tiniest smirk, and winks.

"Hi there."

Lars Barriga | Steven Universe

[personal profile] donutzombie 2018-11-04 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes, waking up in a new place is the type of thing one doesn't notice right away. Sometimes, sleep takes a while to fade from the mind, and in that in-between time, nothing seems amiss. So it goes when Lars awakens. The pink teen pushes himself up to a seated position and pulls his rather dramatic cape around himself. With a yawn, he uses the fabric to rub at one eye...

...And finally realizes that, while he still feels like he was sleeping somewhere hard and uncomfortable, he's not in his captain's chair.

"...Wait."

Is he back on Earth? It's the closest thing he's seen to it in a while. But wherever here is, he has no idea how he got here. Surely, if Emerald or some other Homeworld official had launched a successful attack on the ship, he would have been awake before it came to a crash. There would have been too much noise to sleep through, and surely someone would have woken him up.

He looks around... None of the Off-Colors are there. There's not even any sign of the ship's wreckage. So... No. No, there wasn't a crash. Maybe they went through a wormhole, or blackhole, or... He's seen those sort of things in space movies. Maybe that's it.

Lars stands up, and somewhere in the back of his mind, he finds himself wondering why these things always happen to him - but his more conscious stream of thought dismisses that quickly. He knows people who go through far worse, far more often.

"This still sucks," he mutters as he begins to walk down the street where he woke up.

Lars hasn't walked far before he's noticed by a man with a goatee wearing a long leather jacket. He's studying the buildings more than the street itself, but the cape catches his eye.

"Nice cape," he remarks. "I had one like that, once."

"Oh." Lars stops short, not particularly surprised that he's been stopped already. Between the way he's dressed and being pink, he realizes he catches the eye. "Uh... Thanks."

He almost leaves it at that, but then figures that now that he's in a conversation, he might as well get some information.

"So, where are we?"
playingtrack3: (almost sorry)

[personal profile] playingtrack3 2018-11-04 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"In the city of Nautilus, near the Inner Southern Gate." He looks him up and down, casually, intrigued more by Lars' gauges than anything else. The use of 'we' instead of 'I' very slightly suggests a new arrival.

"What's the last thing you remember? You might need a few other things explained."

Lars scowls at the simple answer; as far as he's concerned, this situation does not call for just a simple answer.

"Yeah, I do," he remarks, before sighing and glancing up. "I don't know. I was just on my ship... Sleeping, I guess?"

"Then I have a bit of a cold shock for you. You've been pulled out of time and space into an alternate reality. Everyone here has. The people here call it Wakening, and the city of Nautilus itself seems to be what's responsible. It's sentient, living off of the chaos energy it creates by pulling people through. But anyone who lives here can learn the ability to manipulate that chaos to their own means."

He bends up a cup of coffee out of thin air.

"It takes practice. But once you catch on, it's simple willpower."

Connie was her usual busy self, having already come from the grand library and was on her way to the Beach House to visit Miguel and was actually flying over when she saw someone that looked fairly familiar to her. Had it been a few months ago she might have overlooked the boy, because when had she ever known a pink boy? But when she was last home, she'd been in on a ship and seen Lars at his best: so when she spotted him, Connie descended down, making sure her eyes weren't deceiving her.

"Lars?! Is that you?"

Zelda frowned slightly as she watched the man on the ground. Such sights were hardly unprecedented, let along the most unusual thing she'd seen in Nautilus, but he did seem to be remaining there for an awfully long time.

After a bit of consideration, she stepped forward. "Hello? Are you in need of any assistance?"

Sexy | Doctor Who

[personal profile] sexy_bluebox 2018-11-05 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
All in all, this is certainly not the weirdest thing that's ever happened. In fact, Sexy's not entirely sure it makes top ten but, well, there you have it. The weirdest part about it is the fact that she has a mouth, which, contrary to most experiences, is not a luxury she usually has. (She proves this, of course, by letting out a series of random vocalizations - yes, she definitely has a mouth that was not there previously).

Upon further inspection, Sexy takes note that she does seem to be in Idris' body again, which is ludicrous in and of itself. Her body was deceased, and she purposefully atomized it so the Doctor, Amy, and Rory wouldn't have the displeasure of disposing it. Everything about the situation screams impossible (as it so very frequently does).

Finally, Sexy manages to sit up, skirt bunched up between her legs. She's on a pile of dirt, back resting against what seems to be a rock, and it takes her a second to recall the motor function for her body. Sexy looks up at her surroundings, noting the not-so-neat rows of similar-looking rocks, and the red-tinged sky. She can't quite remember the name for where she is, but something in her very human gut knows it's not a good thing.

"Oh, dear." Sexy bunches a hand in her hair, scrunching it before attempting to stand. She manages to sway to her feet, still looking around for something, anything, that might tell her where she was (and where her wayward Timelord had gotten to this time).

She takes a step, dress catching on something behind her, and Sexy holds a hand out to steady herself on the mystery rock. There's a phone holding her down, yes, a bulky rotary telephone, and she stoops down to pick it up, setting it on the mystery rock. Curious fingers brush over the dial, and she picks up the receiver wrong end up, turning in the only number she can recall from her too-stuffed human brain at the moment: her own.

Lars tries to take all that information in, but it's hard to do when a stream of 'nope, nu-uh, no way, too weird' is running through his mind - especially when that coffee cup just appears out of nowhere. Hasn't he already experienced enough craziness?

So in the end, all he can do is hold his head in his hands and ask, "Seriously?"

Lars stumbled back when Connie appeared in front of him from... The air? Seriously, where was he? But still, it was Connie. A (more or less) familiar face, and he tried to smile, even if he didn't quite manage it.

"Yeah, it is. Connie? What are you doing here? What's going on?"

It's the phone that catches Romana's eye more than the woman herself (though that's due at least in part to the fact that she pays little mind to newcomers as a general rule). If she's trying to access the Network with it, then it's certainly one of the strangest methods of going about it that Romana's seen thus far.

She's heard of stranger, of course, given some citizens apparently use books to access it- but it gives her pause nonetheless, and she slows down a bit to furrow her brow. It's an outdated-looking thing, too, comparable to what most humans in Nautilus seem to be used to.

"Can that actually connect to the Network?"

River was used to strange things happening around here and even stranger new arrivals. But an old rotary phone ? Now that was a slight blast from her childhood. Well, what she could remember of it.

"I doubt that thing will connect to the newtwork..."

And then she realized what number the woman was dialing and paused. What was going on here.

"And I doubt anyone's going to answer than number from here."

Ten meanwhile is walking along the Gallifreyan mountain after touching the mountainside with his hand and saying 'good morning', psychically and going to his meditation spot on the mountainside when he felt something strange when giving that psychic talk to the mountainside and deviated from his path to where the strange thing was, which turns out to be a person... with a phone attached to her and picking it from the wrong end.

However, it's the number dialed that makes his eyes go wide and softly remarks; "I'm right here."

As Ten offers his hand to his human formed! Tardis.

Sexy looks up, phone still pressed against her ear, and blinks twice at Romana. Sometimes she’s not altogether sure where she is in the time stream - past, present, or future - but rarely do the settings collide like this. Something certainly must be wrong if she’s a human and Romana is standing in front of her. Sexy was never particularly good at holding on to things she didn’t access from her databases regularly, but she’s about 85% sure it’s been several hundred years since she last saw the Timelady in front of her.

“My, you do look different dear. But then, I suppose, we all look a bit funny.” Sexy cocks her head to the side, curls falling messily over her shoulder. The phone’s still ringing by her mouth. “I don’t see why not. That’s what these things do, isn’t it? That’s their job.”

“Did I do it wrong?” She holds the phone receiver out at arms length, frowning.

"I suppose so." Admittedly she's not sure how the visual display would work on something like that, but that doesn't mean it's impossible by any means. Still... "it's just a bit odd, that's all. I don't think..."

She trails off, shaking her head lightly. She looks different? It feels to her as though she hasn't changed much at all since... well, since the last regeneration, but if she'd met this woman with that face it would stand to reason that she'd remember her now. It's hardly the first time she's met someone further ahead in her timeline than she is at the moment- especially in Nautilus- but she's still never quite sure how to deal with it without it all becoming a big headache.

Not another face of the Doctor's, she hopes. At times she can barely deal with the ones they've got here already.

"I'm sorry. If we've met I don't recall. The timeline here, it's..." she sighs and vaguely gestures with a hand. 'A mess' to 'nonexistent', take your pick, it's all just as much of a pain to deal with.
sexy_bluebox: (Oh?)

[personal profile] sexy_bluebox 2018-11-05 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sexy turns around at the voice, hair whipping over her face. Her grin is palpable when she spots River, eyebrows relaxing from their confused scrunch to a gleeful sort of wonder that River will probably recognize (if anyone's going to pick up habits, it's the unbelievably old box he's been galavanting around in). "Well it seems to be ringing, darling."

"It isn't like he can go anywhere if he doesn't answer." Sexy sniffs, offering a slight shrug. Simple, it isn't as though he'll be able to get her to move without her. "I assume the curiosity will get to him, either way. It hardly ever rings. Shouldn't very well be able to ring, but then there are quite a lot of things that shouldn't be able to happen that manage to do well anyway."

She gestures to her entire person, as if to say, what can you do?
sexy_bluebox: (Hm?)

[personal profile] sexy_bluebox 2018-11-05 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Her head whips up, hair tossed out of her eyes, and she can't quite school the surprise that washes over her expression. Yes, the person she was trying to call has appeared, but, of course, this isn't the version she was expecting (rarely in her long history have the things she'd been expecting to happen actually happened). The grin that takes over her expression can't be matched, however, because as much as she loves her thief, she's always had a soft spot for this particular regeneration (maybe it had something to do with how happy this one had become during his time, or maybe it was just her favorite console room, who's to say, really?).

"You could have well done with picking up, couldn't you?" Sexy hangs up the phone and lets the Doctor take her hand, tilting her head to the side. "Number's never changed, dear."
borntolove: (Snogging)

[personal profile] borntolove 2018-11-05 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ten stares into those eyes; those aren't human eyes. Definitely not human eyes. Those are eyes that have seen time and space. Older than they look and considering this place being this place being a subconscious place - this is probably the soul of the Tardis than the physical form.

However, because her abilities for the moment are cut off; which in time can be regained; he can't sense their psychic link.

There is the widest grin on his face and a very big brown puppy wagging his tail about him.

Then pulls her close to him and gives her a proper long snog. She doesn't know how long it's been for him. Since her soul has been around him. Over a year at this point.

As they part, he whispers; "I've missed you."

Oh right. She doesn't exactly fly back home, does she? She looked a little apologetic, but decided to brush that aside.

"When did YOU get here? I mean, I've been here for several years, but this is the first time I've seen you! W-well, welcome to the Nautilus! It's pretty crazy, and I'm sure you have a lot of questions. So, well, one day I woke up here and have been here since. I can fly because people here have the ability to do that, even ones who've never been here before."
playingtrack3: (almost sorry)

I do not expect this to go well but here we go anyway ;)

[personal profile] playingtrack3 2018-11-05 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
So, there they are at last: the damned mountains he's been avoiding since he arrived, the ones that he's going to turn to dust at the first chance he gets. He's considering various forms of explosives and how best to bend enough to make it a good go, when he notices the woman wobbling on her feet.

He's not seen a rotary phone like that in ages, and it's intriguing, about as much so as someone who looks like they don't know how to walk. The Master squints a little.

"Hello, then. Trying to find someone?"
