There was an explosion somewhere back away from the ocean, then something flying towards the waterline.


Whatever it was hit the sand just before the surf and spun wildly before settling out to show itself to be a redheaded woman with her glasses half off, hair a mess, limbs akimbo, one hand holding what looked like some sort of grenade launcher. Her long green dress was smudged and dirty, as was her hair and face, but that seemed to mostly be a new situation. One of her boots was missing, showing a striped green stocking.

"Okay," she gasped. "Note to self. I installed the trigger backwards. Good," she coughed, "distance, though."

She blinked and rolled to her knees, then pulled the weapon away from the waterline. She squinted at the figure in the black coat. "Vexen?"

Xion started when she heard the sound of an explosion, rocketing up onto her feet to get a better look at whatever it was. Whatever was out there, and coming closer. She didn't expect to see a woman, though, and she went to get a little closer to see what was going on.

And then the woman said 'Vexen' and she froze for a moment in fear. No, no, she wasn't him, she wasn't Vexen, one of the members she really, really didn't like, if she had to be honest with herself.

"I'm... I'm not Vexen, I'm Xion." She said, voice wavering a little before righting itself into something stronger. "What are you doing?"

"What...? Oh" She reached up and settled her glasses on her nose. "Sorry, you looked a bit like Vexen with my glasses askew," she apologized, then pushed painfully to her feet. "No new scars I don't think," she said patting herself down with hr free hand. "No blood. So maybe Connie and Baymax will never know and fret..." She shook her head and tried to smooth back some of her head. "I was testing a new weapon." Her hand went to the sigil at her collar, but it was on and firm. She relaxed a bit.

"I don't look like Vexen!" Xion said, because she didn't! No, she didn't. But then she looked down at her clothes, at the black jacket, and she deflated.

"Sorry. I guess I would, we wear the same thing." Maybe she should wear something else, but... no, Nobodies wear the black coats. That's what she should be wearing, and what she wanted to wear.

"Um... is there fighting going on here, that you need to be developing weapons? Because I can fight." Straightens up where she's standing, firm.

She grinned a bit. "With my glasses on you don't not even a bit. But with them all askew I saw dark and pale and general shapes. Sorry about that. One of these days I'll get around to fixing my eyes." She had some interesting thoughts on lenses....

Then she blinked. "You... want to help? THANK YOU!" Okay, she knew nothing about Vexen's world, except that apparently people from there were actually REASONABLE. Thank gears.

Didn't the glasses fix her eyes? Xion thought that people who wore glasses, their eyes were fixed by them. Or something. She wasn't a scientist, or a doctor, or anyone who really thought about those kind of things that much.

But she didn't expect her to get so excited. Xion seemed startled by the exuberance of it all, and she couldn't help but lean back a little bit.

"Um... you're welcome?" She finally said softly. "No one else wants to help you?"

"Some people, bit nearly enough. I did a science experiment with Vexen a while back, and ever since most people have been acting like science is terrifying and I'm a monster for studying it." She shook her head a bit. "Come, I'll show you the work space I've got right now. Though as soon as the lab is built, there will be more room for everyone to work on their own projects."
