"I don't understand. I thought you said things were different here... how is that different?"

Really, he's very confused now. What does the fear of everything staying the same have to do with anything?

"Not all of us are travelers. I didn't need to leave for that to change. I had ways to break up the routine when it became dull. But it all stopped working at once and the feeling kept getting worse and worse. Maybe if one thing stopped, it'd be reasonable," he said, fidgetting with the ring more and more. "But not all at once. And not get so bad, so quick."

"Your ring... what does it mean."

Because clearly, by playing with it, the youth wants the Doctor to ask about it.

There's a sudden tension in his shoulders, and he looks down at the ring. "Its a gift from someone important to me. Usually running with them fixes any melancholy." Which was all technically true in a weird way.

The Doctor nods and looks down at his own ring.

"Mine isn't a gift, but I wear it for similar reasons."

And now he offers an understanding smile. "I take it that person isn't here?"

He shakes his head. "No. I was with them when I was awakened, so it would have been hard to not notice them," he said with a bit of a weak smile.

He tilts his head. Interesting.

"You sound like you miss them. How can you miss them if they're here?"

"No, I mean...back home. They were right there, and then I was here," he said. "But they weren't. Sorry, that was unclear."

The Doctor nods again. His steady clapping has been happening this entire time, and it continues.

"A lot of things are unclear to me right now."

Probably a lot has to do with his lack of Time Sense.

"I don't know who did this to us, and I'm not entirely sure why. But I promise you, if there's a way home from here, I will find it."

Adrien looked at him questioningly. It's getting really easy to ignore his hand. "Are you used to dealing with stuff like this?"

[not_the_question]

"I can usually travel the whole of time and space, so... yes."

And he's dealt with worse. Hence how he knows how to cope.

"I take it you don't? Well, human, I wouldn't expect you to..."

"Well, it's not wholly beyond my experience, though the Akuma were more...localized," Adrien admitted. "There was one with a pocket dimension once, but that was a white void."

The words 'White Void' capture the Doctor's attention immediately. And he looks around. Because... well, that was something he hadn't considered yet.

"Now that you say it... that's a possibility now."

Because, well it is.

"The void is a place outside of time. It would explain why my Time Sense is off. Of course, without the protection of the TARDIS, this is a very dangerous place. It would also explain then hallucinations..."

And now the Doctor has gone quiet in thought. Deep thought.

Adrien shook his head. "Time was still working there. It was more a pocket dimension. Like a storage space. Just seemingly infinite, but easy access."

The Doctor grimaces.

"Unfortunate. You probably have a different definition of Void to me. Well. Different universes, I don't know why I'd expect that to remain the same."

"It sounds like you're referring to a more permanent place. The pocket dimension was...maybe a few hours? At least I don't think it exists anymore, the person making it lost those powers," Adrien said, tapping his chin thoughtfully.

"But I was just using void to describe how it looks. Not as it's name."

[not_the_question]

"Definitely, not the same place, then. The Void, as Time Lords define it, is the gaps that exists between realities: Dimensions, universes, realms, that sort of thing."

He might sound slightly unhappy that it's not the same place. If it were, he'd be able to visit or something.

"Yeah, never in that sort of thing. If Papillon could do that sort of thing, he probably wouldn't be so desperate for the other Miraculous," Adrien said. At least he was more than willing to believe something like that existed. "Time Lords? Is that what you are?"

At the Time Lord question, the Doctor nods once.

"It's why I'm having problems here."

Because, well, with his Time Sense gone, he's blind.

"Well, another universe, makes sense your lordliness wouldn't transfer over, huh?" Adrien asked. "Time would flow differently, even if it's not easy to perceive."

[not_the_question]

"Wrong."

He sighs, he's trying to be patient, but it's difficult because no Time Sense.

"It's a sense for me. Like seeing or hearing or touching. It can cause me headaches in strange universes, like when you need glasses, but this time it's not there at all."

He looks Adrien up and down.

"When I look at you, I should have some sense of something about you. Even if it's just your age, I should be able to see it, like a map. And there's nothing."

"I see. That is weirder," Adrien said, looking out over the city. He's silent for several moments. "Is it possible for time to just not work in a place even though things are progressing?"

[not_the_question]

"There's an entire universe like that. There are no Time Lords there, because there's no time to be lord over. We called it the Divergent Universe."

Teaching is good, he likes to teach. His hand is still clapping...

"Do you think this place could be like that? Did the Divergent Universe get a lot of outsides too?" Adrien asked. Well, it was good information to know either way, right?

[not_the_question]

"I don't think so. There is time here. Watches and such. Time moves along. I just can't sense it."

It's no one else, it's him. Well, that's a change.
