Rose snorted. "She never met your 4th, 3rd, 8th lives, or the Master either, but you weren't listening when I said multi-verse nexus. It's between all universes. Pete's and yours included. Also? All the Disney universes! How fantastic is that?! Pinnochio and Jimminey Cricket are here! Oh! So is Romana! And Azmuth I don't really get what universe he's from. And my kids are from a superhero version of Paris. Totally weird." She flipped her cell phone over to Irene's guide, and didn't let go of his hand either, though she took back her sonic, and gave him her cell.

"Oh come on, it is River, I'm sure she's met all my faces, but you... I never let you out of my sight long enough, now have I? River's clever enough to hide who she is, but not enough to do it and still let you know. Because then I'd know." Because he is just that clever, and you know it if you really are Rose, thank you very much.

Wait... Romana was here? And the Master? No. No, that didn't make sense, none of this made sense. He hated when things didn't make sense, except when he loved it. But this not making sense was claiming to be Rose Tyler, and that was all kinds of impossible. Which of course meant it might actually be true.

"Your kids?" Rose had kids? What? Just... what? Weird enough that Amy was a mum, really. That was like finding out Donna had kids, just didn't work somewhere in his brain. Because that came from all those gross humans being humans messy bits. That somehow were not gross with River. Shut up. Just shut up.

He did pick up the phone though to look through the guide. "Got a bit of an upgrade, who did this work, then?" He wasn't really reading it, he was listening. For her. For proof of lie or truth. For anything in this world that might be a clue.

"Adopted here," Rose shrugged.

"Pete, and this place. You'll find something like it, though heck if I know what. Fluffy's is Jack's vortex manipulator, oh right! Jack's here too! So is Ianto, so they finally got married."

Oh if this were true. It would be like Christmas. Like a whole mess of Christmas all at once. But without the bad bits. Well, except that if he were here and Jack is here and Rose is here there were bound to be bad bits. They attracted to them like metal filings to a magnet. Except without the metal bits.

Oh, if this were true. He wanted it to be true. And the rest of what she said... Was River here then? Oh... that was bad. And very good. Very very good. But also very bad. Speaking of trouble. River and... did she say others of him? Might have. Must have, but couldn't have. No memory of that. Should remember that, shouldn't he?

Well, one way to make sense of all this. "Right. First we have to find the Tardis, then see what she has to say." Because someone might be able to fake up Rose Tyler, maybe even River Song, but the one being in all the universe he'd always always know in an instant was his Tardis.And then he could fix his Sonic. And no, hasn't read the guide yet.

"No," a sigh as Rose tried to watch his emotions and thoughts play out, but either this face was too new, or just too good at hiding them. "She has a soul, so that means she has to awaken here on her own accord. If you remember hearing a voice telling you to wake up, that's good, that was Nautilus itself. The city is alive and sentient and wants your help bettering the multiverse and not letting it go to rot... and I know what you're thinking, 'Surely the TARDIS would be better at that than the Master' and yeah, I agree with you, but it's not like Nautilus has supreme control or anything. That bending thing I mentioned earlier? It's based in will, and utilizing pure chaos to bend reality to what you want. So, of course, the Master is a genius at it. Picked it up even quicker than I did, I'm completely jealous." A shrug. "Nautilus uses chaos too. Little bit less than pure, obviously, s'also why so many people related to you are here, but you know how the TARDIS is, she'll come when she wants to, no good forcing her. And even if she was here.... it'd mean she wants to be, yeah? And believe it or not?" Rose poked the Doctor gently with a wry grin. "Some tiny part of you wants to be here too, even if you don't know it yet or understand why. It'll come to you."

"Excuse me, Rose or not Rose, but if you know me at all you know I am already bettering the universe out there on my own." Well, with the Ponds sometimes, Rose way back when, who knew who all next. Didn't like thinking about the next, so he wasn't going to.

And of course some part of him wanted to be here. Rose Tyler, Jack Harkness, questions and puzzles and riddles, questions he didn't know the answer to. And the Master... alive. And here. Was this his doing then, or something more? Was this the cubes or something else? A lot of questions, questions that needed answers. Answers he would happily find if he had his sonic and his Tardis and his Ponds.

"And what about back home then? I was with Amy and Kate a moment ago, thought once I get free of here, pop back in ahead of them, give them a start for some fun. How would I go about doing that, then?"

Her answer would give him a direction, at least for the next set of questions, because whatever took him wasn't just going to let him go. Not that easily. But the way it stopped him could tell him loads.

"Uni - verse," Rose gave him the most blatant stare, worse than when he couldn't see the London Eye as a big plastic round thing that could be used as a projector. "U - NI! As in singular." She gently took the Doctor's cheeks in both hands. "You have a really horsey face," headshake, FOCUS, "Listen, Doctor. Multi-verse nexus. As in actual infinity."

A sigh as she dropped the hands.

"Time is in the vortex there. It's fake here. WELL, that's how 8 described it. It's not fake to me, but what do I know? I'm not a TimeLord." More headshakes. "It's the same reason your past can be here at the same time without paradox. But only one person per all universes can be here at once. I don't know why. Time, DNA, TimeLord shenanigans, Rassilon. You tell me, but time in the universe is in the universe. This, is outside of it." She scritched her head trying to puzzle it out and shook her head again, "Like I said, something about time and DNA. I don't get it. But this place runs only on will. AND, if you flub up your timeline because you let yourself will it -- which would be a neat trick given it's you -- that's why we're all called here. To fix that kind of thing. People who ascend are given bonus powers and literally have to seek out flaws, sort of like computer glitches in universes. There's a whole big long thing, either read Irene's thing, or ask Fluffy. Err, the face I married, yeah?"

"Wait, whoa. old up. Hold ad backup. Outside of the universe entirely. And it calls Time Lords?" Something in his eyes then, some hint of the anger and the rage that this face so often kept hidden. He grabbed her arms and was about to say something, then...

"Married? You married one of me? Here? Does River know? Are you married to River as well then?" Wouldn't be the first time they'd shared a wife, though usually not both at once. Now wouldn't that be interesting.

No. Doctor. Focus.

"The Tardis. You said she's a soul so she'd have to Wake on her own, is what you said. I don't suppose she's around but seeming as though she's empty, is she?" he asked, that seriousness back as quickly as it had gone. "And small boxes. Either all black" because this could be connected "Or clear with a smaller box inside that might be glowing. This is important. Might be the most important thing in all the universe, any universe, all the worlds, in all of time."

House. Or another like House. Well. This could actually be Rose then, or a projection built on a psychic capture of her. Which means she could be not Rose but think she was Rose and would act and feel as Rose, the only difference being the pains in his hearts when the program ended.

She caught the quickchange emotion about the calling TimeLords, but before she could even ask about it, he'd moved on again.

"Yes," although about marrying River, Rose nearly punched him. AND THEY SHARED alskdjaldkjasdlkajsdlkas -- "NO!" Deep bad wolf huff. "Blimey... tell THAT to your third incarnation I dare you."

At the question she quirked her head. "The Box. But it's not... If you encountered something similar before, it's not the same. Fluffy asked Irene to make it for him so I'd be safe. The first month I was here. He was just staying with friends before that, and was scared of losing me again so..."

About the small boxes, Rose just shook her head and laughed, "No. Doctor, focus, sorry, but you're just... You're really out of it." She gently grabbed his temples between her hands and pulled their foreheads together. "Doctor it's me. I'm right here." She gently opened a psychic link, not entering his space, but opening a door so he could look around hers and verify everything for himself.

"I am focused!"

And with that door open he wouldn't enter. Not at first. Instead, he'd give. Snippits. Bits. If she was really Rose, she'd be clever enough to figure it out.

"The little boxes will make you angry." Just her voice. Just that.

The small cubes, the whole collection of small message cubes, their voices calling out.

Being inside the Tardis, with House booming at him while Rory knelt beside Idris.

Watching the Tardis sink into the ground, knowing she wasn't in there any more... but that Amy and Rory were.

Just those bits. No more. Because if this was House or one like him, more might make him shut this Rose down. But if there was anything in there that was actually Rose, she'd figure it out, she'd understand, and then... Ah! And THEN House wouldn't stand a chance.

A frown. "You're focused... in the past. In the time vortex. Not here." She withdrew all the same, but took his hand again. "You always do." She watched him with big eyes, waiting.

"You didn't even ask to see my ring!" She pouted, teasing him.

"Not just the past..." He shook his head to clear it, stepping away from that open mental door. He couldn't let himself believe this was Rose. He wanted it too much, and it was too important for him to see past the lie.

But he could make them think he believed. Rule number one and all.

"What ring? Why is there always a ring?" He asked, pulling the goofy persona back in place.

She giggled, and held up her ring. "Because it's the symbol for infinity, silly!" She frowned and gave it a small twist, the special diamond carefully crafted by the Doctor, blue and shaped like the TARDIS. "Your past got all weird about it when I started wearing it though." She looked up into his eyes, taking note of the color. Green, like he was trying to go back to blue after her, but hadn't completely let go of who he was. Or maybe she was overthinking it. "I didn't for a YEAR here. I didn't want them to feel obligated. But then River was here and they didn't seem to care about her. I guess it's different though. Me marrying Ten here, not in your proper time, yeah?"

"Marrying... Wait, Ten? The one right before me? Oi!! Fluffy? What do you mean fluffy? What about me was fluffy! Too skinny if anything. First thing I did right off, was eat. Well, crashed first. Then ate. Few good proper meals." He wasn't going to address the last of that, see what she pushed, what she didn't, get a feel for the shape of the trap by choosing what bits he poked.

So many giggles.

"I like him skinny! But he runs so fast! I can barely keep up. But he's a good size! Perfect for snuggles! And taller than you!" A protest and sassy hands on hips. "What'd you eat?"

No way he was telling someone who might not be really Rose about fish fingers and custard. "Oh all manner of things. Did you know beans are evil?"

"No? Since when do you not like beans? Well, since always I expect given the way you spoke about beans on toast. Pears are still evil-er," a pout.

"Worst is probably yoghurt. Just stuff. With bits in it."

"Yeah! The texture is so weird!" A face scrunch. "Not that I mind gloop." Because she has eaten so many weird alien things now.

"If you want gloop, eat jello. No don't. Never know when it might actually be alive."

"Like yogurt," nod nod.

"No, with that you always know. It just is. It's like eating grapes still on the vine. Never mind, it is nothing like that. So. This place. Trap. What's it got for me next?"

"Well, it's not a trap, it's a multiverse nexus. Read the pamphlet, Bowtie Boy, I don't wanna repeat the same old things. And I guess I should really make one just for people from our world," a sigh, "Fluffy talked about it but you know how you are."

"Hey, bowties are cool! And I don't procrastinate, I'm a time traveler. I'll do it last week. You'll see."

"No, they're not. Time can't travel here. Only you can. If the weeping angels catch you, they'll eat your memories of time. There's no time vortex here, no flow of -- that's what I was trying to show you earlier. Sorry. I'm so sorry, but it's going to feel a bit like you've been cut off until you can bend it better. The Master's got a jumpstart on you there. Also because he didn't spend so long whinging about traps, funny enough."
