She stood and nodded. "Do you need a jacket?"

Anyone who saw them together would presume that this was Clara..... But she'd deal with that if it happened.

With any luck no one would call her Clara as it would throw her off and cause her to think that something even more ludicrous was happening. It wasn't often she was mistaken for other, random people after all.

"I should be fine, thank you."

She nodded and opened the door to lead them towards the gate to Helix. "Hopefully tomorrow I can give you the penny tour."

"I look forward to it." At least she thought so. She did have to wonder how dangerous it might be out on the streets — if at all. In fact, it was a good question to ask as she headed along with Maddie. "Aunt Maddie, is it dangerous on the streets here?"

"Sometimes, and on some of them more often than sometimes. But I won't let you come to harm while you are with me. I have been here long enough to pick up a few tricks of self defense."

Jamie and the Doctor always promised no harm, too. She couldn't admit out loud that she wasn't really confident in really anyone's ability to keep her safe since things always seemed to happen. But she trusted Maddie just as much as she did the Doctor and Jamie both, even if something were to happen, Victoria trusted that Maddie would help her out of it.

"Hopefully I won't be here long enough to need that sort of lesson," although self defense might've been something she should be looking into. It just wasn't much of a lady's place. Ever the Victorian.

What she would say if she knew her own story was different from what she would say as Me. Knowing that might be the case, she just gave her a sympathetic smile as they walked.

Victoria walked behind her aunt, falling into silence. The idea of training in some manner certainly didn't appeal to her. She would have much preferred to just find a way home. Little did she know that wasn't going to be the case.

When they got to the gate, she offered her hand. "Hold my hand, walk when I walk. You may want to close your eyes, it can be a little disconcerting."

Disconcerting could mean a lot of things — none of which Victoria wanted to deal with. She nodded as she took her aunt's hand and swallowed the lump in her throat. "Okay, I'm ready. I'll close my eyes once we start walking."

So that she wouldn't falter her first steps if nothing else.

"Alright, it should be less than ten paces, I'll let you know when we are through." She closed her hand warmly around hers. "Ready?"

She was nervous but that was really quite an understatement. She held her aunt's hand firmly but it was clear she was terrified: Victoria was trembling like a leaf. She was never any good with the dark side to being with the Doctor. Once they began to walk, she firmly shut her eyes as she had no intention of seeing anything that would further jar her nerves.

"Oay, we're here," she said after a few steps. "It's a bit of a mess, but I'll go get supplies. Nne of the monsters can pass that gate." She didn't think they could, though Rusty... probably could. "I'll be back as soon as I can so we can set up camp for you. Blankets, sleeping bag, pillows, food, water, change of clothes. Anything else you'd like to have for tonight? A good book?"

That hadn't taken long at all. She opened up her eyes and looked around the area she found herself in. It wasn't all that scary. Somewhat pleasant, at least she felt a little safer. She smiled to her aunt.

"A book might be nice, yes. Could you, if you find one?"

"Of course, anything specific I should look for?"

She smiled. "How about something that you like to read, Aunt Maddie?"

It was nice to see the types of stories that others took pleasure in reading.

Dang it, now there was a trap... who didn't know their own reading preferences? But until she knew who Aunt Maddy was, Me didn't. And that was a problem. She gave her a warm smile. "I'll see what I can find. Back in a bit."

Now what was she going to do?

Oops! She had no idea that she'd just caused some problems for her aunt. She just assumed that a book she enjoyed would be easy to locate considering that Victoria didn't realize "Maddie" wasn't actually herself.

"Thank you for everything, aunt Maddie."

"Of course, sweetie," she said warmly, and let go of her hand. "I'll be back shortly."

"Very well, aunt Maddie." A smile, she expected that it might be some bit of time, so Victoria could take the time to look around the small safe haven ( as she chose to call it ) before Maddie would return. "I will be here waiting!"

Where else would she be, after all! She certainly had no plans to leave. It should be disastrous if she did.

She nodded and left. She got herself out of sight, then used Bending to create a large suitcase, and started Bending up blankets, pillows, and a few changes of clothes for Victoria, modeled after what the girl was currently wearing. She stashed that and ran to the Tardis, quickly trying to find any journals from that time and pull them. She found one from a few years before, which told her nothing about Maddie, but reminded her some about the time period on a quick scan.

From there, she ran to the library, grabbing a few books that looked at a glance like they might b from the time period, and went back to the suitcase to add them all in. Then she brought her heart rate down, cleaned herself up, and headed back towards Victoria, dragging the suitcase behind her.

Victoria, for her part, meandered about the safe haven — looking through some various trinkets before gingerly lowering herself to wait on a chair. It wasn't the same as being in her own room at the Harris home but it was somewhere to hide for the moment, so she would definitely take it. She puffed a breath from her lips, leaning back to try and let herself calm down. It was difficult to let herself relax though. There were a lot of things racing through her mind — like whether or not she could get back to her home and if the Doctor was nearby somewhere. Were the latter true then she assumed things could get bleak at any moment in time.

With a little more thought she realized she thought that with or without the Doctor's presence.

Her fingers balled into fists within her lap, trying to keep her courage up. Maddie was due to return and she didn't want to appear to be entirely helpless, in spite of being just that. She frowned as she waited. Perhaps in the morning she would rouse and this would all turn out to be some elaborate dream that her subconscious had thought up just to startle her. There was a distinct if not sudden sound of something being dragged coming closer to the haven and tensing, Victoria gripped the hem of her school uniform's skirt. Was that Maddie? It had better be...

She came back through with an apologetic smile. "Sorry that took so long. Let's get this unpacked so you can get settled in, alright?" she asked, laying the suitcase down and unzipping it. "Hopefully I have gotten everything you will need for the night, and by tomorrow we should have you somewhere with a proper bed and a door that locks."

All her tensing faded when Maddie came back. It was a relief that she was that one at the door after all instead of some strange creep. She couldn't help but to feel a little intimidated at the thought that the door didn't have a lock. It would have to do for the time being and it was only for one night. She could handle it — probably.

"I'm sure you've gotten more than enough to make me comfortable, thank you. A door with a lock is a blessing, I think, I'll be more than happy to be somewhere like that." She smiled.

She gave her a warm smile and nodded. "I haven't read these books myself, but they were waiting at the library, so maybe someone pulled them thinking I would like them? They look interesting at least." she said, pulling out the books before pulling out the bedding.
