Adrien's smile doesn't waver. But there's a...distance that appears in his eyes. When he speaks, it's still in a friendly enough tone, but the next words are rather clearly lines he's been fed. "A polite, sensitive, but friendly young man. A perfect mix of the boy next door and the most popular kid in school."

After all, that was more or less the image he was supposed to project. Someone obtainable, but not easily, but worth the effort. The perfect teen model.

The Doctor pulls a face. And his blunt honest comes out. "I hated kids like you in school."

Just saying. He was a lonely little boy for a lot of reasons. And children like Adrien didn't help matters. But it's not said with bitterness, more like reflection. An insight into his life that would normally not be spoken aloud.

"How do you define yourself?"

Because he can tell that there might be some differences.

"Ah. I get that sometimes," Adrien said, the smile lessening slightly, and the distance in his eyes growing. It was funny. Marinette had started that way too, seeing his friendship with Chloe, mixed with his status and had been so ready to write him off.

The question catches him off guard, pulling him back to himself. The smile fades into a slight frown, because honestly?

It was a question he hated to ponder.

"..." He hesitates, years telling him to give partial truths to look good. But it just reminds him how suffocating the past several days had been before the Wake. How it still claws at his mind thanks to his father. He doesn't want to stop breathing again.

"A boring, socially awkward person whose occassionally helpful." At least, Adrien was.

The Doctor nods in acceptance.

"Good. Most of the kids at school who I hated grew up into adults I hated more. There's hope for you."

Adrien's hesitation more than anything told the Doctor he might be able to trust the youth. Or at the very least, he might be useful.

"Just remember who you are and you'll be fine."

"I like to think so," he admitted, a small, genuind smile on his face. It had been something Marinette taught him. He messed up with her so badly that she refused to acknowledge him. But she had been willing to give him a chance.

It was the first time in a long time where he believed he could mix his mistakes.

"I'll try," he said. He just needed to figure who that was. Even his self definition was lacking. Especially with the superhero thing.

And now Adrien is reminding the Doctor a bit of himself. "I would tell you I know so... But..."

He shrugs and nods towards his still clapping hand.

"I don't seem to have that ability right now."

He chuckles, just a touch sardonically. "I think I prefer not having the certainty. The kid you hate is the one who has everything all laid out for him." And good god, does he hate that laid out path so much.

"Did Marinette show you the bending? It might be better to try making a metronome."

The Doctor frowns. "A metronome or watch won't help me to feel Time. This is all I have for that right now."

"...a wrist watch metronome? Then you'd feel the vibrations and then you can use your hands for stuff that's not waving in the air?"

It just seems like his hand would get tired eventually.

It won't. Billions of years of practice. He's pretty sure he does it in his sleep - when he does sleep - without realising it.

"Still not the same."

He pauses, pondering if he should say this. What are the chances that Ladybug's kwami showed up with her? If what Marinette says is true, not likely.

"I think bending can help with paranormal abilities. Even if you're missing stuff for it you need normally."

"Do you think it's that easy? A person with sight shows up here blind and you think they can just invent themselves to be able to see again?"

It started out as an accusation, but his tone changes as he speaks. He doesn't know much about this place, so it is a possibility. Interesting...

"It depends, on a lot of factors, but bending is supposed to work on willpower. Honestly, regaining sight would probably be the easier thing. You're used to having it, it's something taken for granted. The thing that weakens willpower is doubt. You don't doubt you can see, not normally, so it's be easier to manifest. At least if I understand the whole premise of bending correctly," Adrien said, tapping his chin thoughtfully.

"Marinette says a superhero from our world is here. One of the few things we know about how her powers work is it's tied to an item. It's something unnatural to them, an outside source, but she's managed to get at least some of her powers back. If something unnatural can be regained, why not something natural?"

"That... is encouraging. For me, my ability to sense time, it is another sense. I do feel blind without it."

He could say same with telepathy, but he's too scared to even think about trying that right now. The lack of time think makes him physically ill. His equilibrium is off. If he's not careful, he'll go crazy - literally.

"See? Then it'll probably be easier to get back. Just need to get a clearer head and once you start figuring out bending, you can probably get it back really quick," he said, giving his most encouraging smile.

"The 'clearer head' my be a little tricky in my circumstance."

Not impossible and there is a hint at hope in his tone, but it will be difficult.

"Well, what do you usually do to clear your head?" He asked. He usually goes running across rooftops. Which might be harder right now, but sometimes distractions work too.

"Travel in my TARDIS."

Not quite true, he likes to play with mathematical equations. Figure things out. Solve mysteries. He'll be fine, or he won't be, frankly it's a craps shoot.

"Your TARDIS?" Adrien asked, looking curious. "Not sure what kind of vehicle that is."

"Yes. TARDIS. T-A-R-D-I-S. Time And Relative Dimension In Space."

Because that's just how it is. Unless it's "Totally and Radically Driving In Space". Which is what he told Osgood it was. Both are true.

"...I would guess that has to do with the universe traveling familiarity," he said. "Well, we don't have the TARDIS, but you ARE in a new universe to explore?"

"Maybe. Or a dream. Difficult to say. Tests will need to be run."

Because that's just how he does things.

"Part of any test is observation though. So maybe we should take a look around and see if that helps?" He asked. It might not be the TARDIS, but hopefully it'll work well enough?

He takes a breath... debating. A part of him doesn't want anything confirmed. The other part wants to know and understand everything.

"Fair point. Have an idea about where to start?"

"Hmmm," Adrien said, looking around at all the building around them. Then he spots something and a wide grin spreads across his face. "Well, in my personal experience, the best way to explore any city..." He started, heading towards an alley. Which appears to have a ladder in it and he picks it up, putting it against the side of the building. "Is from above."

He looks over at the Doctor. "You in?" He asked before he started climbing up.
